Cold Air Intakes
What is your opinion of Cold Air Intakes? I've often put them on "other" cars and noted some improvement in response.
Which brand do you recommend for the base C6? I've always gone with K&N. Recommendations?
Thanks

C6 of Year Finalist (performance mods) 2019
If you want a CAI (Cold Air Intake) for power performance reasons, then Vararam is used on more NA LS2/3 10 second cars than any other brand. If you want a bit more power performance while having the best filtration, then stay with the stock LS3 filter and do the $2 shroud prop mod.

The K&N is neither a CAI nor filters as good as the stock filter.

C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
Seems to have been a much more popular mod in C5's than it is in C6's.

CAI + Z06 exhaust manifolds
K & N filter and did not expect any jump in power. I was correct; 386 rear wheel HP on a dynojet with my 2008 LS3. Then I swapped my exhaust manifolds for C6 Z06 manifolds. This also included the Z06 cats and H-tube. I did not change out my NPP stock exhaust tips but after an engine map, the power jumped to 424 at the rear. The dyno guys were impressed. Plus the sound is noticeably different and with no drone on the highway. This is an inexpensive way to increase power for a lot less money than headers. I know others are doing this too.

I had a K&n on my car and noticed no increase in performance at all. Took it off and sold it for half of what I paid for it and went back to stock.

The Vararam is top dog when it comes to the CAI. It's not too bad to put in and it works. You can feel the difference, especially on the highway on nice cool nights. It's amazing on the highway when it's in the high 50's-low 60's, it just screams. I have the LS2.

My vette came with a vararam already on it. It works. The IAT's are good. Also like previously stated, rolling on the highway on a cool night, floor it, you'll feel it and hear it.
