Default RPMs different? 07 TO 13

I just traded in my 07 stick for a 13 stick I noticed rpms are higher. I know that I went from 6.0 to 6.2 liter but tire height is the same so I'm wondering if the rear end is a taller gear.

LS3 cars have a lower rear end ratio than the LS2 cars.

I could be wrong, but I believe the r/e ratio is the same for both....3.42. I suspect your '07 was a base and the '13 is a GS. The difference is in the 6th gear ratio (per ChevyDave's post): .50 in the base '07 to .57 in the GS. So the engine turns slightly faster at the same speed.

Since both cars were stick -- the rear end ratios are the same.

So either:
Your 07 was a Z51 and your 13 is base model? (rpm's would be lower now)
Your 07 was a non-Z51, and the 13 is a GS? (rpm's would be higher now)

Either would explain a difference, since the trans ratios are different for Z51 option or GS model than they are for base models. Since you say its higher, I'd agree with ruxvette that your 13 is a GS.

Your 07 was a base model (or Z06) and your 13 is a Z51 or GS. MM6 compared to MZ6 ratio transmission.

Not all tires of the same advertised size are the same height, nor are new vs well worn the same size. A 285/35R19 in one brand is as much as .3" difference as another and wear from new at 10/32 to 2/32 used, accounts for .5" in height. So tires of the "same size" can have a 3% variation and show up as 50 RPM difference at a true 70 MPH on the same car and more if the indicated speed is not the true speed. That doesn't even include tire pressure differences, which can change height too.
