New method of changing C6 fuel pumps
Remove inner wheel well
Get out cutting tool, cut the most jagged nasty hole you can, cut other holes as necessary, install fuel pump, then cover your artwork with duct tape. This method has patent pending. This method can only be used after you have spent thousands of dollars at the vendors shop. I am not revealing the vendors name for fear of being called a customer with sour grapes.

Hacking open a shear plate on the frame. Check.
Using drills and saws into a blind panel, behind which exists wiring and fuel lines. Check.
Hide craftsmanship behind duct tape. Check.
A few questions for the curious amongst us:
This was an actual repair shop, and not some guy whispering to you from a "Free Candy!" panel van?
Did the "mechanics" sip from paper bag-covered bottles throughout the repair, or did they stop drinking long enough to put *both* hands on the drill whilst it was spinning through the wiring harness?
Pending litigation?

Why didn't GM design an access panel from the factory? There must be a reason they did not. My guess structural.
I know some BMW's have access to the fuel pump by removing the back seat bottom cushion. There is a cover under the seat that accesses the fuel pump for an easy, fast and inexpensive swap.

I am still trying to figure what my next move should/could be, I have never had anyone hack a hole (that I know of) in one of my cars. I am somewhat concerned, because the same shop has done several other things to this Vette, and I wonder if "shortcuts" or other "creative mechanical ingenuity" was used to perform that work too. I am feeling like I have been in an episode of Cut..Chop..Rebuild.

Do name the shop. NOBODY will accuse you of sour grapes. People need to be warned to stay away from these hacks.

I'm still trying to figure out how that would even work
The factory fuel pump assembly is like 18" long and is such a tight fit that there is absolutely no way you're getting it out of the tank without pulling it straight up. Mine had swollen a little bit and I literally had to break it into pieces to get it out. Even then I could barely get it out and I had the tank out of the car...
No way the pump came out that hole. At least, not in my opinion.
My guess is they did some wiring or connected some fuel lines through that opening.
It's still crappy workmanship.. no doubt about that.

The deck right behind the seats, could be more artwork?
