Default ODB Code P0700/0796

Hello,
I'm new here, and as i'm french, my english is not very good and i'm sorry if i write badly. Please excuse me.

My Corvette is a 2006 LS2 model, with a 6 automatic gear.
It have 47500 km and i have a code O796. I can erase it, but it come back quickly, when the gear try to jump to 3rd to 4th. And at this moment, the gear stay blocked on the third shift. I don't know what to do, and unfortunately, nonody knows in my country what to do.
It seems to be the solenoid to have being changed, but how can i be sure about that ?
I would like to know if it's a 6L80 or a 6L80E model ?
Thank for your answer, and sorry if i'm not clear to read.

I'm a member of a french Corvette club, and we love our 'Vette, but hard to find answer sometimes...

The P0796 is pretty rare, so not much info about it.

See post #2 in here for GM's recommendations for servicing:

Thank's for the link RicK T, I found it :

P0796 - CBR1/4-5-6 clutch regulator valve (327) in the upper valve body (321).

So i ordered the Upper valve body complete, because i can't order the solenoid only.
This solenoid command the 4,5,6 shift. And as my car doesn't drive beyond the third gear, i suppose it's the right diagnostic...

I'll say you here, when i'll receive and replace it. Hope it'll be good.

Hello Hot road preacher, happy to know you love France and enjoy living here !!

Unfortunately, i'm not as happy as you to live in my country. Except food, history and landscape, i have a real negative view about mentality and politic way of France...

But i'm crazy about my Corvette !!

The first thing the diagnostic procedure for the P0796 code tells you to do is to check the transmission fluid level. Have you done that?

I am attaching a PDF file with the Service Manual Diagnostic Procedure for the code.

Hello Bill,

Thank's for your answer. Yes i did it, but i knew that P0796 is CBR1/4-5-6 clutch regulator valve (327) in the upper valve body (321)
I ordered an new Upper valve body, because i don't want only to change the valve.
It's a common default to the 6L80 ( Upper valve body), so i wait for that item, and when it'll be change, i'll tell you here.

Bonjour, sorry for the late response. My 63 year old back needed the help of a chiropractor for a few days. I lived in France well south of Paris in the country from 1960 to 1963 in the small town of Captieux, then Chize, then finally Beauvoir sur Niort. I was treated like royalty and welcomed in every home. Today my country has become a mere shell of its former glory. I also share a concerned view for the now very divided States of America. I have watched through tears as we have become devoid of a moral compass. Anyway...my Corvette still loves me and I love it and all its quirks. HRP

I spent all my last monday morning to replace the Upper valve body on my automatic transmission.
Unfortunately, it was not that. I had one chance in two to replace the upper valve body or with the control solenoid body. It was not the upper valve body...

So i ordered it, and wait for it on next monday.
Boring to wait...
