A8 in the C6
Numerous articles indicate that the A8 is identical in dimensions to the A6. So has anyone tried to or actually retrofitted the A8 into a C6? It would seem that the biggest challenge would be the computer control of the transmission and the possibility that the C6 PCM lacks that capacity to operate the A8. Perhaps Century or Rossi or one of the other vendors could comment. Any comments from subfloor@centurytrans would also be welcome.

I may be smoking crack, but I believe someone posed this question before and the consensus was that it would not be possible due to tcu/ecm issues. I hope I am wrong though. Would be a neat mod.

The trans ecu is separate of the main ecu and is located in the pan
If the dimensions are the same, the A8 could be retrofitted but would require some work to get the new trans ecu to communicate with the main ecu. It could just be a tech 2 job, or could require new wiring.
RPM transmission used to do swaps of A6s into manual cars; Id look to them for help first

One day when someone comes up with the software/adapters/wiring/interface it maybe possible. For now it is not until some aftermarket stuff comes out.

C6 of Year Finalist (performance mods) 2019
If you start playing around with overall gear ratios, you'll see some advantages and disadvantages in 1/4 mile times when using available C6 axles with and without DR's. The first question becomes: Can you hook up with street tires on a GS? Next is: What's the average RPM in each gear over a 1/4 mile with mild boltons/tune and Dr's?
This is not just about having two more gears before you get to the OD ones.
Ratios Compared: 8L90 -- 6L80
First:------------- 4.56 ---- 4.03
Second:---------- 2.97 ---- 2.36
Third: ------------ 2.08 ----1.53
Fourth: ---------- 1.69 ---- 1.15
Fifth: ------------ 1.27 ----- 0.85
Sixth: ----------- 1.00 ----- 0.67
Seventh: -------- 0.85 ----- N/A
Eighth: ---------- 0.65 ----- N/A
Reverse: -------- 3.82 ----- 3.06
Axle ratio: 2.41 or 2.73 --- 2.56 or 2.73
C6 285/35R19 --------- 26.9 Dia
GS 325/30R19 --------- 26.7 Dia
DR 275/40R17 --------- 25.7 Dia

I have looked into this more than a year ago and re checked three months ago:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...m5u-on-c6.html
The mechanical fitting is feasible but the electronics are still cost prohibitive (for my pockets). Buying an A8 with a controller for a C7 is actually fairly cheap approx. 4-5K. To modify the lot for the C6 is an R&D project none of the three names in transmissions I contacted seemed willing to take on. When I started talking dollars to fit a 3d party programmable controller 15K hardly seemed enough... so I to let that idea go for now BUT I would love to read any positive updates on the subject.
Cheers!

You could have a 6L80 built to handle 1000 hp but you also will need a stronger rear diff and axles to go from 436 hp to 1000

only in the 2005 year was the 4l60 used not the truck tranny 4l80

I have a 4L65e in my 2010 Corvette.
Contract RPM Transmissions and ask about a Level 7 4L65e.
I am at 750 wheel, soon to be ~ 1,000.

Even a level 7 4l65 has to be rebuilt after about 5,000km at the 1000hp mark give or take pending driving habits. Don’t really want to go down that road. I was told that right from rpm. My car has an iron block so it’s not the lightest.
