Default c6 telescopic steering column install

I own a 2006 Z06 with only tilt wheel and I have a chance to purchase a 2007 Z06 tilt & telescopic unit. i'm 6'6" tall and even though I fit good in car, I'd like to have the option to have the wheel closer at times. My question is has anybody done the swap? I'm looking for any info on what to expect: wire harness info, steering wheel controls, (new one has them but mine doesn't), I'd appreciate any help, thanks guys!

I want to do the same mod , I posted a while back asking if anyone has done it and did not get a response

What I do know
1 the new tilt telescopic column will fit
2 make sure you get one with all the harnesses and switches motor and trim ring , some are stripped down
3 The airbag harness is the same
4 the memory will not work in my 1Lt
5 do not move the wheels when replacing ....

What I don't know
1 will it work if the memory is not hooked up
2 are the power connections in the car side of the harness

I put in a power passenger side seat and I had to run a power line to the harness as there was not one on manual cars , after doing that the swapping of tracks was easy

Let's see who responds and if no one does , we can put our heads together

Well I placed my order today, the unit is supposed to have everything needed for swap, harness etc. My car doesn't have memory, steering controls or anything, so hopefully my only concern will be power for the telescopic part. Thanks for the response, I'll definitely keep in touch

So there will be no memory of course, but is that a big deal. As long as it can be powered up and moved.

Let us know how that goes,

DJ

Did you happen to notice if the wiring harnesses matched up? That's my biggest concern. I did some research & it looks like GM used one harness for all applications, that would be awesome! But one way or another I will make it work when I get to it. Good luck & keep us posted when you get it all hooked up, Dean

Paul can you tell us what year ur column came out of and what year did it go into

I am concerned that my 2011 with audio and bluetooth controls along with paddle shifters will require me to swap out the clock spring also if I don't get a column from a late model . Then I am worrying that the harness from the older column will not mate with the newer clock spring

I see at least 10 on ebay but they are either 2005 or from 2007 2008...

I was going to do this on my '07 but it got wrecked before I had the chance. Then I bought an '08 3lt that already had it. I'm not convinced the wheel gets any closer with the motorized column than the fixed one.
