Default 2005 Navigaion Radio / 2008 standard radio

Anyone know if I can swap the two radios? The 2008 has the CD player etc are they plug and play or is there something else I need to do?

2008 Radio from the window sticker is from a 2LZ car.
AM/FM Stereo, 6 Disc Changer, MP3 Format, Bose Premium 7 speaker system.

Since I own both cars at the moment and I keep getting lowball offers on the 2005 I am considering swapping the stereo's.

Would I need someone to program the radios to the Vin in both cars? Or just the one with the Nav/XM unit?

Also will the radios work at all after the swap or do I need them programmed before they will work?

Thanks!

Wiring is compatible.
But you'll still need to have the dealer (or indy shop with a Tech2) do the VIN Relearn on BOTH cars after install.

Thanks it might not be worth all the shenanigan's to swap these if I need someone with a Tech 2 to learn BOTH cars?

Recommend you check with your dealer as there was a change in 2006 or 2007 to the interface which made 2005 OEM nav or radios not compatible with later year cars.

Don't forget ,you will need to add a VSS wire otherwise the NAV Portion will not work

Not hard to do but you do have to do it
Check out Ray Kawels article in these forums

I doubt most dealers would be able to help -- if the PN isn't what the book says it should be for your year, they'll likely just say it won't work. (First hand experience and TONS of anecdotal evidence of that behavior posted by other forum members.)

The only *compatibility* difference I know of is that the 2005-2006 nav radios do NOT support the steering wheel control buttons. (and of course, only 2011(?) and later have USB)
