Default 3 - 4 AMP draw with car off

Couldn't figure out for the life of me why my battery was dying until it dawned on me to check for draw when the car was off. Sure enough, I'm getting one HELL of a draw, bouncing around between 3 - 4 AMPS.

Before I start pulling fuses, has anybody heard of this being a problem on the a C6 before and are there any things I should check first?

Thanks!

UPDATE: One of the posts you guys suggested showed a guy that left his multi-meter on for a few minutes and eventually it settled down to normal 4-5 milliamp draw. So, I tried it and it worked! Must be just the startup systems checking for whatever. Anywho, seems to be right now, so now that I have a new battery I'm gonna throw the trickle charger back on it and see what happens.

Thanks for the helps guys!

yep, see it happen out here before. Most times it happens right after a battery replacement, or when something acts up with the XM radio or OnStar.

Here is a thread that talks about it, and has other links in it too: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-when-off.html

Any recent changes to the car? (new aftermarket radio, new alarm, new mild-to-wild, etc)

hope it's a "maintainer" and not a trickle charger.

Yep, just a general term. It's the Black & Decker BM3B.

I can't believe the C6s only have a parasitic drain of 4 ma...My C4 has a drain of 30 ma and this is considered a low normal..With such a low drain why do C6s have such a problem with low voltage batterys all the time?...WW

That's my fault. I had my mm in 10AMP circuit, so it only went down to 1/100th amp. So when I was readying .03 - .05, that was actually .03 amps. I.E. probably just North of your 30 ma. Sorry about that!
