2005 Vert needs new clutch slave unit ect.
HELP! The dealership wants $5100.00 to replace the following:
They said they have to remove the rear diff and tube, and the headers to access and make the repairs, the tech is recommending to also replace the clutch assembly and flywheel while we are there and to put some header insulation on it.
This seems very high and I thought it would be about $1500-$2500
I live in NJ and was hoping for some much needed insight and advice!
Thank you!!!!
- Clutch Slave cylinder
- Clutch Assembly and flywheel (recommends due to the fact the car has 90k in miles)
- O2 sensors

Well you know the dealers are going to be on the high side always, but IMO the $1500 would cover the labor only to R&R that trans/diff, torque tube, headers, clutch housing.

Try another post to who has the best deal on parts online. I'm sure you'll get a lot of hits and suggestions to brands and all.
Good luck with you car..

Dealerships are just not the best place to have aftermarket mods done to a car...they specialize in doing oem things right out of the factory service manual. A good specialty Corvette shop is who should do this kind of job.
And WOW, that is expensive...

Horsepower Addicts in Delaware swapped my clutch on my Z06 with long tube headers for $700. I supplied the parts clutch, slave, and oil. So $2000 for everything. 1 day turn around.
A wet sump with stock manifolds is quite a bit cheaper

WOW! That's an arm and a leg and the first TWO new born! !!
If you are going to have the repair accomplished in a SHOP, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you call around to the Corvette specialty shops in your area and see what they charge.
Besides, Even though you would be having the STEALERSHIP do it, there are occurrences where they FAILED because the Tech that they assigned to the job didn't know all the PIT FALLS in replacing a corvette clutch. TRUST ME! They are NOT always the experts and don't always get C5 and C6 repairs correct!!
Give Corvettes of Westchester a call and speak with Chuck. He does excellent repairs and drivetrain work! They are in your area. 281 N Broadway, SLEEPY HOLLOW, NY 10591, us. (914) 332-0049.

Here's a link to their specials. It was last posted in Sept 2015. But still worth giving them a call to see if its still good since they always seem to be having package deals.

Hey there... Give us a call.
We do TONS of Corvette drivetrain work here. We're experts with the clutch, torque tube, and diff repair.
Any Transmission or drivetrain type work is very routine here and NOT SUPER EXPENSIVE like the dealerships.
Call us any time to discuss.

ECS, Cartek, or Tune Time Performance. Give all 3 of them a call and get estimates. Then go with the best one, based on price and initial opinion/gut feeling. They're all in NJ and do excellent work. Forget the dealer!

Thank you Everyone!
Update:
I wanted to let everyone know that Chris from East Coast Super Charging was extremely helpful in trying to help me get back my daily driver 2005 Z51 Vert back on the road asap as my clutch and slave cylinder were fried. He said he could get to it in three or four weeks as this was busy season and understood that this was a daily driver so he gave me the contacts of four other shops that might be able to help. I contacted them all but could not get the job completed any sooner. so I posted a new thread to this forum and Josh at Horsepower Addicts was recommended.
I email and talked to Josh and he said that if he got the car by Monday or Tuesday the car would be ready Friday with a new LS7 clutch etc. Well after an exhaustive search for a reputable transport service (wow what a bate a switch operation those are) I got the car down there Tuesday morning and Josh was a man of his word. The car was completed as promised and for 3K less than the stealership wanted.
I can't thank the member of this forum, Chris for going out of his way to help me find a shop and Josh for his help, understanding, and for getting the job done on time and with no surprises or hidden costs!!!!
Those guys rock!!!!
