Default What Harmonic Balancer for a 2005 LS2?

Gents,
I need a new harmonic balancer for the vette. It started chirping at 1500 rpm and I have a major wobble.

I do not plan to make changes to the car increase the RPM range. I am looking at balancers and they range from $150 to $400 with ATI being the most expensive.

I also do not want underdrive or over drive.

What is my best option and do we have good vendors with good prices here to buy from?

I know I also need a gasket, ARP bolt and a few other items.

Thank you!

Notes: Maybe the ATI ATI-917246 ?

Now very confused.

Why not the just slightly smaller and lighter 917266 at 7.48" compared to the 7.53"

I have the Powerbond on my car, get APR bolt and plan a whole day to swap it. Not hard but steering rack is a pain in the butt! I actually managed to swap one with out steering rack removal! Loosen 2 front engine mount bolts, lift the engine ever so slightly enough to swap it and lay the engine back down on bolts.

And ARP bolt and a new seal. The amount of labor involved makes the cost of all the parts a minor expense. Get the best and do it right and once.

I am all for ATI, just do not know what one specifically.

Same with the ARP bolt, does anyone have the part numbers to what is needed?

Thanks Brandon, but i am stuck between the steel one at 7.53" and the aluminum one at 7.48". Obviously the aluminium one is lighter, but why the size difference? Anyone put the aluminum one on and used stock belts?

I havent replaced mine yet. But, there were a few threads a while back that said to go with the stock equivalent. I believe its the steel balancer. The other is meant for race applications...like true race cars. From your other posts, you wont be trying to push a stroker through your car.

Thanks. At this point I am going to call them and find a place to order all the parts tomorrow. This will be done on Thursday. I have a lift so it will be a bit easier.

Thanks for the advise. This winter the car will have a cam change, headers and fast intake this winter. Just need to get it running for the summer. That way my friends can go to shows with me and have something to drive.

ATI said either will work and the aluminum one will last on the street no issue. They also said the weight was of very little significance and would be a few hundredths of a second on the track.

Due to NEVER wanting to do this again and not caring about that little time, I went all steel for longevity.

Summit has the ATI Pulley, ARP bolt and the GM Performance Parts Seal.

Running Summit C2501 on mine for a while now, no issues. ATI makes a nice part though, no doubt about that.

I have the Power bond SFI unit, runs nice, car got "smoother" after install, save over $200 compared to the ATI. you could put in a new Melling oil pump M295 $60.00 and a C5R timing chain while your there. with the savings

Hate to break it to you, but if you're changing the cam you will be doing this again.

I installed the Powerbond HB on my 2005 this week. No need to pull the timing cover as you can easily replace the front seal with the cover in place.

I DIYed a Powerbond replacement for the stock "wobbler". I pulled the steering rack; actully did the job without completely removing the rack. It took a total of about 6 hours, but that was in between lunch, walking the dog and cleaning my bathroom.

I am satisfied with Powerbond.
