Help!! LSX376-b8 Twin Turbo
So I recently bought an 08 with an LSX376-b8 twin turbo setup. The crate moor has just over 700 miles on it. I've put less than 200 mi in the car. I took it out and hit bout 120mph. Seemed to run a lil rough so I backed off. When I was headed home, doing about 65, the valve cover gasket blew sending oil everywhere!! I was able to limp it the remaining mile to a buddies shop. The following day I started a compression check. The #4 had no compression at all, #5 didn't have much for compression. I haven't had a chance to dig in any further seeing I'm a single dad working nights. . I've tried attaching a pic of the plugs and a screenshot of the #4 cylinder wall and piston head. I'm working on getting the tune file from the company that tuned it. I am located in Great Falls, MT. So there isn't much for performance shops around here. Anyone have an idea of what the cause of failure was? Apparently the last motor burned up the rings and had to re-sleeve a few cylinders too. Any help would be much appreciated.

Ding ding ding
Some things will be obvious, some won't without logs. I wouldn't mind taking a look if you do get a copy of the tune

You may have gotten on it before it was properly tuned, likely two fried pistons.
A wide band highly recommended as well as an experienced tuner good luck to you.

Now it's setup for remote tuning with specific interfaces only--have them clear that out

It would be nice to know, but he can only tell if you if the tune is junk, not if it is good. Plus, you should be finding a new place ASAP, so while knowing is nice, it shouldn't change anything.

Totally agree. If something stupid was done.. anyone that has a clue will be able to tell. If fueling is just off by 10% then no one be able to tell just by the tune
Regardless.. time to go somewhere else

Kind of like the baby out with the bath water at this point, since step one is to pull the engine all the down to find the damage, then get that replaced first.
But on side note, If the tuner is the same one that built the motor, then they have some work to do for free. If not the builder, then the tuner may still be on the hook for a replacement motor if it turns out to be a bad tune.
I'm not going to point out fingers, but there are a few tuners on the boards that have blown motors with bad tunes!!!!!

I'm still waiting for them to get back with me on the unlocked file. I am in the process of tearing it down. I was wanting to see if it was something stupid and maybe put the tab on the tuner. Plus, I'm trying to figure out what was the cause so I don't duplicate this debacle. I appreciate ya'all chiming in and will keep updated.
