Default D3PE fan users

Anyone notice your voltage gauge and digital readout jumping around after fan install? Mine does, and if I pull the fan fuse it goes back to normal. I'm about to hook up the scope and figure out what's going on.

What alternator are you running?

I can only assume those fans pull a decent amount of current..

Stock alternator. Not the problem though.

At the alt. and battery voltage is stable with a meter. With the scope, it's a different story though. The fan motors are producing voltage spikes every time the solid state relay turns off and on (150v for 15m/s long). This noise is causing the ecu to have false voltage readings. I'm betting this will cause problems with injector voltage offsets. I jumped the fans straight to the battery.
Gauge and digital readout are stable again. I have a few ford pwm cooling fan modules I'm going to wire up tomorrow. They're like the c6 module, just easier to come by and more like a motor controller than a ssr.

Success! Ford modules installed and work great. I used one for each fan. They're rated at 60 amps, so no problems there. Voltage is stable and back to normal. Also, these modules have a soft start and put out 100% power at 90% pwm. So no programming needed.

Tons of users using these and first person with this problem. I wonder if you have a borderline charging system or a bad pwm relay from d3. I've seen plenty of these installed with no issues.

P/N or application on these Ford PWM Modules?

Thanks,

It's really not a problem unless you watch the volt meter like a hawk.

I've read the Focus and Edge have very similar controllers.

Hey bad I'm about to order a set from D3 interested in the Ford controllers; question how to wire them up and is it necessary to cut any wires thank you.

FYI. I drove my friend's ZR1 today. It has D3PE fans on it also. The voltage gauge does the same thing my car did. Jumps around and not stable.

Had mine installed it's doing the same thing I'm not happy with there reply when I contacted them they stated I might need to upgrade the alternator. Definitely there is a problem.
