Default LS2 to LS3 Head swap

Hello,

I was hoping if anyone here has done a LS2 to LS3 head swap. Is this mod a true bolt on ? Are there any particular issues that arise when doing the swap ? Do you recommend ported heads , over the stock LS3 heads ?

I'm thinking of doing the head swap + FAST intake . If anyone here did a similar modification to their 2007 c6, your help , guidance, and tips are much appreciated.

THank you !!!!

I did CNC'd LS3 heads, Comp Cam, FAST intake, Been a few years, but a simple and common swap.

Since a ported LS3 IM is nearly comparable to a FAST, that's a lower cost alternative to consider.

Factory LS3 intake is great, but got the FAST as a gift, otherwise, I would have bought a stocker.

Ok cool. Did you change the CAM yourself ? or had a shop do it ? I'm sure there is timing, spring and valve calibration involved, or is that handled through the ECM via tunning and reprogramming?

HP Tuners, had West Bend Dyno did the work.

It's a pushrod V8, the ECM has no control of springs/valves.

Timing / tune changes.. yes

I performed this swap a few years ago. Swap was pretty straight forward, Don't forget to get new head bolts and you will need 11mm x 2.0 and 8mm x 1.25 clean out taps to clean the bolt holes in the block.

Also, need the rocker arms for the LS3 heads.

I'm a fan of (a killer set of) 243's personally. Yeah LS3's have great flow numbers but that's about all I've seen out of them.

Man I have a set of 821 heads and I have the ls3 intake and a btr stage 2 ls3 cam kit ready to install. But I haven't done it because. I'm not sure if it's the route I want to go I've been doing research and they say there is valve shrouding. And having to fly cut pistons so I'm second guessing myself.
