anyone replaced driveshft seal/bearing??
I'm getting my ps pump rebuilt by Turn One on my 08 Z06.(leaking ) They mentioned that I may have to replace the driveshaft seal and bearing.. saying you need a special tool for the seal.. before its all apart I am not familiar with this and just want to know if anyone has done it and how accessible and difficult is it? My mech. skills are about a 8 or 9 out of 10 for corvette/ car wrenching. Just not familiar with ps system repair work.
Thanks

I guess he means the steering shaft that connects to the back of the pump. Here is Turn one's reply to me:
Hi there,
The track ready pump rebuild is $175. However, if the drive shaft seal is bad you will need to replace the drive shaft bearing as well. A new bearing is $20. As far as replacing the seal your self, it can be done but, takes some special tools and you will most likely end up with the same condition again.
Thanks,
Jeff

He is only charging you extra 20.00 for the bearing , how much extra for the seal ?
Sometimes doing it yourself is not worth it depending on the price

Oh thanks guys.. I didn't know those parts were part of the ps pump.. I thought he said if they were shot that I would have to do those myself on top of T1 doing the pump rebuild. So he meant the ps pump bearing and rear seal?? I will just have them do it then. Thanks. I wonder why he says you will just end up with the same problem again??
