A6 C6 drag lauch
Hey guys,
Curious... am i gradually harming the 1/4 mile performance of my bone stock C6 A6 by brake torque launching at 1800 rpm at the track? I'm still running Michelin runflats and barely achieving 60' times under 2.0. Last night my final pass worsened from 1.97 all night to a 2.0 and I dropped a full tenth in the 1/4 in better air. No idea why except maybe trans was hot (all other runs had hours of cooldown... this one did not.) I'll switch to "flashing" if I'm harming things. Any insight appreciated.

Also, does it matter how long i'm revved on the converter at that rpm? I was more aggressive at holding it at 1800 once fully staged last night - probably 3 seconds on average per pass in 3 passes of eliminations.

I found no quicker 60' times launching at anything over 1200-1400 when stock or even up to a 3600 stall converter. However, with a 4000 stall, it seems the sweet spot is 2000 for me.

Thanks HOXXOH. very helpful and I'll keep that in mind! Do you or others have any sense whether 'sitting on the converter' is doing damage to the converter or the fluid?

@that low of an rpm I doubt that you will hurt anything.

Here's a link to a thread I posted a few years ago about Michelin run flats at strip. I was able to get very consistent results launching around 1,400 and rolling into the gas while letting off brake.

If you didn't have cool down then you engine temp might have been high enough to pull timing causing the slower et. When my car was stock and I hot lapped it 3 times it drop about .1 and 1 mph each run
