Default Swapped to aluminum racing seats....

Just finished installing a pair of Kirkey intermediate racing seats 60 lbs saved compared to the original 3lt car seats @ 50 lbs each.

Used sliders on both happy with the results.

Yes factory seat belts with impact tensioners as well looking into incorporating original seats side air bags to new seats at later date.

Will post pics later after giving the car a much needed shower after working on and off on it for about 3 weeks sense the air bags were disconnected and seats removed battery off, is wash time.

Sliders off eBay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Du...-/121876458295

Their hardware is junk I used SS flange nuts and bolts 8mm x 1.25 thread 16mm long to bolt sliders to seats made my own SS brackets to connect sliders to floor.

Not kitting these seats fit like they were made to the car however truth is they really don't fit as they come but need some massage and labor of love that's all.

Incredibly comfortable I had my upholstery guy add the head rest area an inch of padding to lean back like 3/8 and be on the head rest just like oem seats.

I also remove some of the entry side support to make it easy to get in and out.

Awesome.
Those lighter seats make everything else in the interior look heavy....except perhaps the driver...haha.

Xboostx, I am interested in the weight reduction but mostly interested in getting my seats lower and further back.

I assume putting manual sliders on would make that entirely possible?

Absolutely you can lower these at list 2 inches more than the originals and will go back another two as well just take a look at the thickness of the back rest and figure replacing that with one about 3/4 inches thick including cover.

Quick note, these seats as the ones I'm using are deceptively more comfy their looks suggest, our road race car had Ricardo racing with side bolsters and they were nothing but torture after switching to the intermediates the car became a joy to drive sense that particular car is white we order a set of red covers and they are sweeeet.

Very nice. I installed a set of fiberglass bucket seats in my car but they are fixed position. May pick up a set of those sliders.

Default Seats

Do you happen to have part numbers for the seats you used? I really like this setup.

Thanks!

These are the intermediated 18 inch wide I suggest going with the 17” inch wide cause they be a lot easier to install just because of the seat belt I wanted it outside the bolster and it takes a whole inch width.

Do you feel like that rear seat bolt anchor is legit? looks fabbed up legit spacing wise, but is that quality metal and re-enforced at all? and an extra hole drilled in it? haha, not trying to be a hater, just curious if you are keeping that as is? I used to get a lot of **** for making my own seat brackets in my old drag car real similar to this, so i noticed it immediately.

These are 1/8 x 1 1/4 inch wide stainless steel brackets
welded and bolted to the sliders after been bended twice they become really tough and way stronger than the 16 gauge stamped mild steel factory pieces and are bolted to the original mounting points.
