PM Dave, all the info you need in actuality And is most likely the route I will go after finding the following out.

Living in a small rural town as I do options are limited with no real Corvette specialty shops, and the tuner who was highly recommended I heard was just diagnosed

I found this article and the install doesn't look terrible.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/how-tos/a/corvette-how-to-install-headers-and-exhaust-368453

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice for exhausts and tunning. I'm happy to give my business to people on here over Summit/Jegs etc.

Get 1 3/4 headers. They make much more torque than the bigger 1 7/8, unless your going the supercharger route get the smaller headers. You should be fine even if you do heads and cam with 1 3/4 headers. Remember, torque is what gets you to the finish line quicker. It also breaks your neck.

I did, I went with LG headers with a full high flow cats with x pipe and corsa xtreme axle back. I'll probably go ahead abd do plugs and wires as well. Any thoughts on a cold air intake as well?

i went with the Vararam , it fits well and its easy go clean the filter if you install it correctly , really lowered my IAT temps ....

Only downside is that with the vararam, you have to cut the radiator shroud to make it fit because of it's design. I would recommend halltech.

Halltech vs vararam is probably the most classic intake war for the c6.

I would do halltech. Better quality finish and has the stock look with the beehive. That's what i will be getting.

I understand where Dave is coming from as far as where does the fresh air come from, the Vararam actually brings in fresh air via the 'scoop", having said that I was cruising the vendors and noticed this little addition to the intake market, seems to do pretty much the same thing all while retaining the OEM intake system which by all reports supplies adequate air up to Z06 standards. What do ya think ?? Oh and at a substantial reduction in money spent.

Never saw this one ...

i do like pulling the air from the front of the bumper verses from the same area that is feeding the radiator on other designs ..

I suggest you take a look at the halltech intake. I'm telling you guys, i highly recommend this.
Maryland has a deal for kooks lt headers in both 1 1/3 and 1 7/8 with x pipe and this intake for a killer price.

Glad to help out Jaime, thought about getting one for myself actually in conjunction with the intake shroud from Corvette Mods so I can keep my OEM intake but just supply more "fresh air".
The Halltech unit, from the looks of it, supplies a similar shroud with their unit

Does the vette air scoop only work with the z06 front bumper with that 'open' vent. Mine is a base so I think it would be useless without the z06 style front bumper.

nope you don't need the z06 front bumper, its actually placed behind the grill. Cool design
Its almost like the vararam scoop in one.

I just did this little item to block the under hood hot air, Dave doesn't like it but I thought it seemed like a worth while add-on, coupled with the Vette scoop it seems like it would work well all while keeping the OEM air box. I got it on sale for about $85 so then add the scoop for $125 and for $200 you have CAI

Let me know how it works if you get one OK ? Seems like a good idea
Bobby
