Drag tires + stock C6 wheels = not best for much of anything.
If you want the best for the dragstrip, it'd be Hoosiers on lightweight 17" wheels.
If you want the best for the car show, it'd be M&H on some exotic wheels.
If you want the best for local street use, it'd be MT on any 17" wheel.
If you want the best for highway use, don't leave home with DR's on any wheel.

OP, it really depends on what you plan on using them for. Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S tires or DRs seem to be the best of both worlds for most people unless you are planning on having a dedicated set of tires and wheels for the strip.

It's a compromise, just like anything else that doesn't fit the exact requirements for a specific need. The tire selection is greater for 17's.
Even 17" wheels with DR's are a compromise to allow something to fit without additional changes, because 15"s with slicks would be better for the track.

For my application would 27' diameter be too tall. Its going thru an A4 C5 with 3.42 gears?
