Default What happens when you mix 2 different weight oils??

Today someone ask me what happens when you mix 2 different weight oils, like one quart of 5w-30 and one quart 10w-40 synthetic oil.?? Will the oil mix and you will end up with a slightly heavier weight oil half way between the two , like a (7.5w -35) oil , or will there be very little difference noticed? ..WW

Theoretically, yes. But I think you might want to look at "LDB" posts. I believe he's commented on it once or twice. Do an advanced search w. keywords, and limit to say last six mos.
