Chuck Witmer built my engine! Wasn't he the best?! ; )
2006 z06 with 29K miles and runs like a champ!

I don't see the bar code that would tell me the born on date. Is it possible when the cam was replaced the bar code is gone now? I've looked all around the alternator and up underneath it and cannot find one. Any help?

Thanks all!

It's likely they must have taken it off. While it is not easy to read, the stock location on the left head inboard of the alternator does make it easy to find and it seems to be gone on yours. Maybe the prior owner has some of that info?

Default Bar code label location

Here's picture of bar code label at front of LH cylinder head. There is also one on rear of same head.

Greg Jones, if you're on this forum, I wanted to check in with you. You built my LS7 the day after Memorial Day, 2006.

My car runs like a champ 8 years later. She's a daily driver, and has several track days under her belt. We're getting ready to try out the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas, next month for a track day. But she's just as much fun taking out to the grocery store for milk.

102,000 miles and counting. Thank you, Greg Jones and GM for building a fine, bulletproof engine.

Fred,
If you can get a copy of Ultimate Factories, Corvette, you will see Greg Jones building an LS7 for the show. I'm the guy in the orange Harley shirt behind him. :-) Worked with Greg for 5 years before he retired. Great guy & a Very good engine builder.

Default Linda Hooker built mine

I purchased my '06 Z06 on June 21, 2014 with 21,607 miles. As of today, she's got 6k more miles on her clock. No strange noises and she doesn't burn a drop of oil.

Thank you Linda Hooker!

Hey Fred,

That's great to hear that your Greg Jones build has held up so well!

Greg was a lot of fun to work with. And a true gentleman too.

So I'm surely not the only wondering - what issues have you had with your LS7 along the way?

Thanks - and Rock On!

Forum member postings Total = 1533 + 27 = 1560 LS7’s posted

So with 1,560 Corvette LS7’s posted and 30,546 built (from recent calculation) that means only about 5% have been posted on this Forum. And in reality the number is less if you consider that some may have been posted more than once, and that crate engines are not included in the total built. So there is room for many more postings….

Yes it is true, Wixom PBC finished building engines for C6 Corvette production. It has been a great run!

Performance Build Center has now moved to Corvette Assembly at Bowling Green. Best wishes to Mike, Barry and all of the team for continued success at Bowling Green! And rumor has it that Barry, Mike and Rob will be at the SEMA show in Las Vegas. If you get the chance, stop and say howdy!

Eaglei,
Yup, not a rumor any more. Mike, Rob & me, Barry, will be in Vegas at the SEMA show. Please stop in and let us know that you are a forum member!
As for the LS7 & the C6, we still build the LS7 but it is for the 2014 Z28 Camaro. We are also building the 650 HP LT4 for the 2015 Z07 & Tonawanda, NY. is building the LT4 for the 2015 Z06.

More wonderful HP to come...

Ronald Lucas built the LS7 for my 427 Velocity Yellow drop top. Car built 1/11/2013 I purchased the vette from Criswell Chevrolet 12/5/2013. The LS7 is an awesome motor in stock form. Puts a smile on my face while driving the beast. The car is well behaved, I am not when driving it.
Thanks eaglie for the OP.

My pleasure to keep the totals updated. Still seems like a very cool thing to have a personal connection between driver and engine builder. And cool that Corvette owners are so passionate about their cars!

Sorry to say that the posters are no longer available - but there must be a few tucked away and not being appreciated? Wish we still had some to give to Z06 owners....

Default 07 Z06 Tick Fix

After reading the forum on LS7 valve issues I became paranoid and sickened. My 07 Z06 had 50k and had developed some ticking at mid rpm. I looked for rollers on the magnet at 2 oil changes, nothing. Then I ran into an old timer who runs a vette shop. He told me to drop a can of CD2 in with every oil change. I did. Ticking went away in a few hundred miles. I've never used additives before, but it worked for me.
Happy with my BEAST again.

Up until this week, I hadn't revisited this thread since I posted in it 8 years ago. And I had seen the episode when it originally aired, not realizing y'all we're showcased in it until now. Fun watching it again. Thanks, Barry, for adding another human touch to my Favorite Car Ever.
