[Z06] Z06 with no garage?

Z06 with no garage?
I live in college town in Texas with ZERO garage parking at any apartment complex and only one complex with some* covered parking. I have had a '02 Denali in the sun for 4 years and it has taken its toll. Would the lack of being able to put a Z06 in a garage or cover be a hinderance to anyone buying one?

College town + z06 ? that would be a no.
I had my CTS-V @ Virginia Tech for less that 25 days before it was keyed. That was even with me living off campus in an apartment complex. My z06 does not join me and stays in its stable until I start it up and pull it out.

I live in a big college town in Texas (College station). I would of never bought this car if I had not had a two car garage. There is a kid here in town with a lemans Blue one and he parks it out side of his college apartment building right next to all the other cars. I personally just cant to that. Another bad thing is all the young girls around here just swing there doors open to there cars and don’t even car if they hit someone else’s car.
Just my two cents.

I would have a hard time trusting any car in a college town, most of those kids drive crappy cars and could car less of they ding yours.

I had a similar dilemma but with my base c6, not z06. I had always told myself that I wouldnmt have the car without a garage. Circumstances didnt allow for this, but I decided to keep the car anwyay. I keep it in an oversized spot, so door 'dings" are not possible. I laso purchased the stormshield cover which is amazing for rain and sun protection. It also helps keep it much cleaner. However, In the winter, I will find a garage for it, even if I have to rent a storage unit.
So if I were you, I would still buy it, purcahse a good cover and park it as best that you can (will you have to street park it??) Trust me, after a few months, it wont be brand new and you will get used to it being outside....

Not to be a smart a$$, BUT...if it were me...I would save some money to buy a house first, THEN get the Vette and your garage problems will be solved!
I drive by a house on my way to work up here in Erie, PA (home of 150" of snow a year!) and I see a 2003? Z06 parked outside all year long and it makes me sick!
Just my $.02 worth...

Buy the house... it's generally an appreciating asset vs. the $70k car that'll drop hard and fast.
That said... yes I wouldn't get one w/o a garage or at least my own driveway to park it in.
I had my z06 for 1.5 years w/o a garage, but I had a darned good car cover and always had a personal driveway to park it in.
In college station area... or in Texas I'd roll w/ a soft top jeep on about 9" of lift.

I can't believe you have to ask this question.
Common sense is all you need.
If you're not **** about the condition of your cars, no matter how expensive they are, then get the Z and don't sweat it.
But if you care, you shouldn't even consider it.
At the very least, get a place where you are guaranteed a covered spot and invest in a GOOD quality (don't skimp!) cover.
You will need to dedicate some add'l time to keeping it extra clean, as you don't want to put a cover on a dirty car, but that's about your only choice.
Good luck.

Im here for another 1.5 years and then I dont know where, I have no desire to buy a house in that time. The apartment where I live though I take up two spots most of the time because there arent many people. I could find a place to live with a garage if I wanted to live with 2 or 3 people, but I dont. Ive done the roommate thing many times and Im enjoying living alone. I love black, but I think under my current situation Id have to go silver just because it wont show webbing and fading as bad as black.

The real question should be, how well do you plan on taking care of it. If you are religious about waxing the car, there should be no trouble with being parked in the sun. That said, I would not ever leave my Z outside. It doesn't go outside when it is raining, or if the roads have ANY puddles . I just don't do it. But thats me. If I were about to make a purchase and wanted to get the best car out there for the money....bar none, then I would go ahead and get the Z. Try to find someone close with a garage or a parking garage that you can use, if it bothers you. But I have to say that if I had a chance to get one of these beasts and didn't have a garage....that would not be the deciding factor in my purchase . You can always get a nice cover from the corvette museum store, too. Good luck!

If you'd have to live with 2 or 3 people to get a place with a garage....I'd strongly suggest saving your money and at a later date when you graduate...buy the Z06.
You only have a year or so left? The feeding frenzy will calm down and the Z will be just as good..
A year or year and a half is nothing ....hell a lot of guys on the Z06 dealers list have been waiting almost that long..
Wait....would be my suggestion..
