Default Blew up my differential :-(

Well.... 540rwhp, fresh traction compound on track, 15 psi in my heated up drag radials, and a very hard launch and I got a loud bang. It broke the differential carrier in half and blew all the parts out on the track on the right side of the case. What really seemed weird is the right axle shaft end is still in the hole in the case flopping around in there with nothing inside. I will be upgrading my differential to a strong 4.10 unit but I have questions about half shafts. I want to buy some C5 shafts but I am confused. Is there one shaft that can be used on both sides or are there side specific shafts?

For your use, you may want to add in a trans brace on your rebuild.

Those braces have never made sense to me in how they do absolutely anything to strengthen it.

That has been a topic of debate for years. I had one on my supercharged C5 and still blew rear end. I eventually upgraded my differential to a stage 4 DTE and it was almost indestructible. Your guess is as good as any!

Perhaps it holds all the broken parts together rather than littering the strip with chunks.
