Default ZR1 Vs. Z06 Let The Truth Be Told

In Nov. 07 I purchased an 08 Red Z06 and love the hell out of it.

I flew out to LA in Jan with my GF to ride coasters @ Six Flags Magic Mountain. On the way I purchased 2 different car and driver magazines.
I read both articles on the ZR1 and it seems to quite the new machine. I'd rather be NA but the super charger seems quite high tech.
I like the wheels and new brake system also.
There are quite a few other change which will help the car at higher speeds that are kewl as well.

The thing that gets to me is, I just bought the hotest car on the street (IMHO) and GM goes and trumps my new Z06 with this thing.

It's not so much that this car will be kewler and faster it's that my car is not going to be the rage anymore.

IT's like buying the latest computer only to see a better one the next day.

I'll enjoy my Z till I see what happens in 2012 with the C7.

I would take my Z06 over a ZR1 anyday, 427 ci and N/A.

Be happy with what you got... I'm content with my 3100 pound 505 HP machine. The very select few that will spend 150 K plus for the ZR1 do not intimidate me.

Just go ahead and buy a Bugatti Veyron and you won't have to worry about feeling this way for a good while.

http://www.flixxy.com/bugatti-veyron-test-drive.htm

It'll only cost you $1.3 million, but hey, you'll never have this sinking feeling you are going through right now ever again. Small price to pay for the peace of mind.

Or you could enjoy it until the next magazine comes out.

Your car will still be HOT, just not as hot as it was.

When I bought my '04 Z in 2003 I felt the same way. At least I had 2
HOT years with my Z. MY '07 Z is firecracker to me.

Life's a Bit*h ain't it.

Enjoy your Z and quit worrying.

You also won't have to try and make up some story as to the technical advantages or reasoning for a see through hood...

In my humble oppinion, I think its nice that GM made the ZR-1 because its the trophy of the corporation. But, its really sad that GM can't build a trophy where it counts the most: mid size and full size cars. Corvette is not the bread and butter of GM and unfortunately, Corvette wont save GM. If you ask me, they are puting all their talent in the wrong place. Corvette has never been hard to sell and probably never will be... but this other crap GM is selling wont make a dent in Toyota sales.

Back to the issue though, ZR-1 vs. Z06... the ZR-1 will never have that nice ring to it "427"... The Z06 is a throw back to the old days... cant beat that!

Who's trying to save GM? GM just outsold Toyota and became the #1 selling car manufacturer in the world?...

Default DUDE!!!! Z06 still best bang for buck and destroys all sportscars!!!

The ZR1 is nice but 120K...COME ON!!!! The Z06 was a sweet car because of the tech that went into it....on top of it its 11.4 @ 127mph performance. So the ZR1 has bigger brakes, has some Japanese looking flares, and is the new rage. The Z06's purpose in the first place was to dethrone all Ferrari's, Porsche Turbos, Vipers, and the LIKE!!!!!! It will be a few years unitl a machine like the Z06 will be made and is still the best 427 N/A out there. Z06 gets looks galore and any idiot who says why do you not have a Zr1 probably is jealous. 99.999% of the cars cannot even hang with the Z06. I have yet to be beaten on the highway or curvies!!!! I just clipped 10K miles and love every day in that machine!!!!!!!

The ZR1 is great and it will be fast, But I still love my Z06 and with all the after market parts out in the market you can do a lot to maket it faster or as good as a ZR1, Also at $100,000 the ZR1 is at the high end of the corvette price range.

Default Maybe This Will Help

Today i happened upon a guy driving a brand new Lambo Gallardo. Beautifful car in person. It was metallic silver and looked really hot. I walked up and began a conversation with the guy ( a cool guy also) and complimented his car. I then mentioned had he ever come up on a Z06 with this thing. his response "No way man, those things are crazy fast!" That right there summed it up in my book. Long live the Z06 Corvette!!!

I'm gonna try and have both. I've already modded my z for road course work and I'd love to have the zr1 just for the hell of it!

Don't despair the C6 Z06 is the ultimate street supercar. The ZR1 will just be a different ultimate street supercar. Not better, just different(more horsepower, but heavier, etc). Oh & the ZR1 will be LOT more expensive especially if the buying public goes along with the expected huge dealer markup.(I also have a red 08 Z06 that I bought at the end of October, so we're on the same page. I came out of a 996 tt & the Z06 is much more fun)

Waiting for those ZR1 parts to become available for bolt-on. Love the wheels, front splitter and a few other goodies

Why care so much what others think of you or your ride?

As long as your happy with what you have is all that matters.......

And if you decide you're unhappy today with what yesterday was the greatest simply because something you've never even seen or ridden in just came out.....

Then you need to find a new hobby.......because there will always be something faster, more expensive, or in your case what you call "The Rage"

Kind of the exact same thing C6 guys have said for years about the Z06.
