I'm kind of new to Z06s so please pardon my ignorance but why is the 427 worth the extra $? I realize it's limited production but will it really hold its value once the ZR1 appears? Isn't the ZR1 only $15K more?
Sorry if this is a stupid question...but I'm considering a new Vette and want to learn as much as I can.

Click on this link and read the info from Rick Conti's blog site..should answer most all your questions about this 'Limited Edition' 427....and the ZR1 will be atleast $50K over these Z06's...you will be hard pressed to find one (ZR1) for MSRP...atleast the first years minimal production...

Nine dealers have them listed on ebay. One sold a couple of days ago at $5,300 UNDER MSRP. Two (from the same dealer) have a buy it now price $5,000 UNDER MSRP. My local dealer has one listed with a buy it now price $2,000 UNDER MSRP (and they have a second one also for sale). Even Les Standford and Kerbeck are trying to sell the "limit Edition" on ebay.
I wouldn't get in too much of a hurry. They don't seem to being flying out of the dealers showrooms at inflated prices. I'm guessing that they will be down around $7,500 under MSRP shortly.

A friend and I went to a local dealer today to see one...absolutely beautiful car...
Sure wish Chevrolet would let you order ANY COLOR you want when you are spending this amount of money...and...a convertible Z06 option would be nice...
Any one home at Chevrolet???

I believe the problem with the apparent 'slow' sales of these Limited Edition 427's isn't so much the appearance of them, but has more to do with the fact that GM did a lousy job prepping the dealers and the public about the release of these...heck when I ordered mine back in Feb. the dealer did not even know what I was referring to. Not until I discovered the GM order code of 'Z44' did they even know what it was...
If not for this Forum, there is a good chance more than half of current model vette owners still may not know about these ... anyhow, if you look back at all the hipe the 'Ron Fellows' edition got, and compare to these 'Limited Edition' Vetts...you will see what I mean...BIG difference in advertising...bottom line though is these Z44 cars are limited to 427 in the states and they will bring a premium as a result, plus much more attractive color combo that RF white/red ones in my opinion.
If you shop these, you will find them for under MSRP...I got mine for way under just because the dealer did not know what they were...to bad, so sad!! Its mine now...

I think the 2006 Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic Z06 Corvettes would be more rare, there was 399 Ron Fellows Editions, 505 "427 Limited Editions" but only 262 DSOMs.
Personally, I think the owners of the DSOMs are alot more fortunate than people who own the other two limited editions, because they weren't planned that way.
Just like the one of a kind gold colored 1966(?) GTO that's worth $750,000 now.

There were a lot of the 427 editions in the plant last week, both US and export versions. There are a lot of them in the back lot, held up waiting for installation of the hood stripe and emblems. Trucks are taking them to a facility just down the road, 4 at a time, for the installation. This time they are not entrusting the dealers to install the stripes (the fender stripes for Ron Fellows cars were a dealer installed item).

You cant really compare Ron Fellows cars with these 427 versions as the Fellows were available while dealers were living high off the hog on inflated prices of standard Z06's. It wasnt until the end of the 2007 run to the 2008 that the Z06 market was saturated and killed the prices. The reason these cars are sitting and being discounted has little to do with advertising or anyone knowing (most local dealers are clueless as they dont specialize like our forum dealers), rather no one in their right mind is going to pay for only cosmetic differences when the standard Z is being given away.

Explanation in six words:
The economy is in the toilet.
As of Friday, 04/25, there were 1400 unsold 2008 Z06 Corvettes sitting in dealer inventories across the US. No one in their right minds is buying a "discretionary" vehicle at this time.

and looks like no-one can afford to run a digital camera.
OK, I know I'm harping now, but usually guys post a picture or two when they get their cars, and there really is a shortage of pics of the 427, so how about it?

I get pretty sick of seeing all of the "Just wanted everyone to know, I waxed my car today and it looks really good but I don't know how to post pics" threads.
