yeah randy from drm is the only guy who sells them. talked to randy last week and bilstein sais they cannot get any more until the 1st of the year. unfortunately

shocks will only take about 2-3 hours or so.

ride quality is good and doesnt make it any rougher then stock so that is nothing to worry about.

yeah got it for free when i was working at gateway. you work there??

Default DRM shocks

In your opinion is the ride better (softer) than stock? I would like to make my ride more compliant and civil and improve handling at the same time.....You did a heck of job in those tight conditions..
I have some high end systems (audio & video) and buy alot of their best cable and they always send me a Tshirt........

Thanks for your input

I did not do an alignment after i did these. you are not really changing any of the geometry if the car but it is always good to start off the spring with a fresh alignment to know your settings are on the mark rather then find out when a pair of tires is shot

Thanks, i'm doing some new wheels too. After shocks and wheels it's time for the alignment.

I'd like to know the answer to this too. I'm considering these shocks for the future. Thanks.

it does all the above, it will give a better ride & will outshine the stock shocks by a ton when on the track.

Note if you compress the front shocks and keep them shortened with a coat hanger restraint, it is not too tough to get the old ones out and the new ones in without loosening the upper A-arm.

I installed all four with no suspension parts removal. I used an old ratchet strap (nylon) to compress the old shocks and then used zip ties (long ones from Home Depot) to hold the new ones compressed until in position. Did the same thing with Koni FS shocks on my 05 C6 coupe.

I like the ride, but it is definitely firmer - not harsh (over most bumps), but, definitely stiffer.

HPDE days in about a month at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch (NV) - looking forward to evaluating the DRM shocks along with Johnny O'Connell sways (had the sways and Nitto NT05s installed for last HPDE).

Jim

I'm bringing this thread back to life for 2014!!!

I just bought a 2006 ZO6 with 20k on it. I love it, but the high speed freeway embankment runs get scary. I was going to buy Pfadt coil-overs but I have a hard time with replacing the mono-springs that put the ZO6 and ZR1 on the top of the lap-time boards. I even saw a video where they lost 15 seconds by going to coil-overs at Nurburgring. Many say it's just the stock shocks that don't handle bumps well. I guess this thread proves that theory.

I just bought the DRM Valved Bilstein shocks with the bushings for $520. Much better than $2000 for coil-overs. With the saved money I'm buying some custom Forgestar CF10 wheels and MPSS tires. 19x11 30mm 295/30r19 front and 19x12 50mm 345/30r19 rear.

Is there anything else I should buy to get the Z glued to the street? I promised the wife I would get the 505HP to the ground before I buy a cam, 102mm TB, heads, and headers.

Thx.

Go the Pfadt's web site and look at the alignment settings. Then get a GOOD alignment. Most high speed Z06 instability problems seem to be linked to a bad alignment. The DRM Bilstein shocks help too.

The DRM's made a HUGE improvement for me. Stock was scary and unstable at higher speeds and the DRM's changed the drive to pure confidence. The cost of coilovers was more than I could justify to not try a cheaper alternative 1st. $2100 vs $450 group buy. Not saying the coilovers aren't a good choice, but I've always had coilovers on my previous cars and wanted to try something new/cheaper to see if it solved my issues. $450 later I'm satisfied. Absolutely made the car a lot more enjoyable and confident to drive. One of the best mods I've done so far.

I also read that if you level the ZO6 it will float at high speed. The rear needs to be higher than the front like the stock setup.

Anyone try the T1 sway bar kit? Too much for the street?

Having rake in the set-up helps tremendously with higher speed "float".

Regarding the T1 sway bars - a lot depends upon where you live and the road conditions, your personal preference, and also remember that the tires have an influence as well (sidewall stiffness). For me, living in Michigan, the T1 bars are too much, but I have gone stiffer in the front (played with both 32 and 35 mm bars).

Oh, by the way, another "vote" for the DRM shocks. Great shock for street use.
