I currently have a C6 coupe and may trade up to a Z06. Since the Z06's roof is fixed, is it safe to assume that I won't have any of the popping/squeaking/creaking noises I get on the base coupe? For those that have owned both cars, let me know your experiences.

I've owned both, and havent heard anything from the Z. The difference in frames and solid feeling is very apprarent (to me).

'06 Quicksilver Z06

The Z06 roof does not creak or pop.

My 2005 C6 coupe's roof did in fact creak and pop, but I managed it with silicone grease on a periodic basis.

Creaking and popping roofs on coupes and verts are a necessary evil. I have owned both and its just something you periodicaly manage by adjustments, etc. or you just live with.

When the frame of the car flexes, it happens. It didn't bother me much.

The Z is just solid and its one piece non removable roof, secured to the rest of the frame, does not creak.

If you hear the roof on a Z06 making strange noises then it is about to delaminate and should be taken to the dealer. This was an issue with 2006 and early 2007 C6 Z06s.

This is not a problem on an '06 or 07 Z06 which has undergone the most recent roof fix, nor for any '08 or '09 Z06.
