Default Need advice from all the guys that were on the waitin lists for the C6 Z06

I copy and pasted this thread from the C7 section also because I would like to hear from the guys that bought the C6 Z06 when it came out in 2006.

Will there even be a C7 Z06?? Also how early did dealers start accepting deposits on the C6 Z06 before it was released? I know we are probably about 3-4 years away from the cars release if it even is released but curiosity has gotten the best of me.

I recently had to sell my 08 coupe and since realizing that, I decided I will eventually buy what I really always wanted which is a Z06. My decision now is to decide on purchasing a C6 Z06 at the end of the year or the beginning of next year OR just wait it out and put a huge deposit on the C7 Z06.

I really love everything about the C6 Z06. I love the looks of the car and I think the performance is great as well. I keep thinking that with all this talk of gas going up and the new standards cars will have to follow, what if the C7 Z06 is not as good as the C6 Z ? Although I can't see them releasing a car that is worse, that wouldn't make sense.

What I honestly loved the most about the C6 Z06 was before it was released and all the specs were official, all the speculation and the anticipation of the cars eventual release. I really envied the guys that were on the list for that car and I think I would really enjoy being in that position for the C7 Z06 Orrrrrr should I just get the C6 Z06 JESUS HELP ME I AM CRAZYYYYYYYY

You've got lots of years of waiting for a C7 Z06.

I don't mind waiting many years as long as I know the wait will pay off.

Those that were on the list for the first C6Z06 paid upwards of $10000 over sticker. Now they can be had for $10000 under. Was it worth it to be first?

I'd have to agree. Being one of the first few people to get this car when it was in full hype/anticipation mode must have been pretty freakin awesome. See I can go back and read all the old posts before the original details of this car were made public. All the speculation that it may be a 6.4 liter 450hp car to the rumors that it may be a 427 and still get excited about this car. It really is an awesome car and I hope soon to experience it first hand myself.

An 09 or maybe it will be 2010 by the time I can order, in cyber gray would be a car I would want to keep forever. I look at my dads friend who loves his mint 1995 LT1 Corvette and I say I want to be that guy eventually. Being able to just enjoy what I have and not always worrying about whats the latest and greatest.

If you can afford a new C6Z now, just buy it. I bought my C6Z in July of 06' at MSRP. You can easily get the car now under MSRP.

As for the C7Z, who knows when that will come......

I was on a list here in Burbank, It was just amazing to be one of the first persons to have a 06-Z06. I pcked my car up Dec 5, 2005, I must have waited 4 months for her... One of the best times I've ever had... and it contintues with my 07-Z06...

There's absolutely no way of knowing that. GM may fold, the Corvette may be sold, you may die. Even if/when there is a C7, there is no way of knowing what the car will be like, nor whether there will be a Z06. In any case, likely the Z06 will be delayed a year or two. Get the 427 when you can. If/when there is a C7Z, you can always trade up when the time comes.

No guarantees this side of the grave, and the automotive industry is entering a particularly volatile period.

Well, maybe some were. I was on Kerbeck's list from December, 2004 and got my Z in October, 2005 for MSRP (I would have had it at the beginning of September but it got sent to Roush for some work, sort of like what may be happening with the first Zr1's).

You've got to pay to play so for those who paid over they simply got to play more.
As to any production car, the first year of production is like a dice throw.

I quote a great poet.....NIKE.....and just do it!!! You may not be here in 2012 or whenever the next one comes out. I almost settled for a convertible, but a wise man (my father) told me if you want a Z06, then buy one!!And I did! And I am sooooo happy I did. There are many verts in my town, but few Z06. Good luck with your decision

My 2 cents:

I have found that the corvette gets better each year after a model change read some of these threads and you will see people think the 08' are a better car than the 06' cars and lots of people are trading up right now. If it were me I would by the 09 and enjoy it. Now if just want to be the first one on the block with a C7 that is a whole different story. Good Luck.

The 09 is the way to go. Pricing is great, car is beyond awesome, bugs are worked out and it will be a while until C7 and even longer after that before you see a ZO6. And with the way things are going, you may never see a C7 Z. Having the 09 will bring you very comfortably into the C7 model run and you can decide then.
