Default Another Stupid Clutch Fluid Question....

My C6 Z uses DOT 4 in the clutch and DOT 3 in the brakes. Why? My C5Z uses DOT 3 in both. If I buy Prestone "Ford" brake fluid in DOT 3 it has a boiling point of 550 while the Prestone DOT 4 is only 478. Same price. Can I use the DOT 3 in the clutch?

Even if you can use the DOT 3, I would only use what the owners manual states. This way, if anything goes wrong, GM won't point the finger at you.
