filter
Great info and pics.
I am wanting to do my 2004 Z06 with 40k miles. Just bought it at 38k miles and it has never been changed.
Is there a filter to that needs to be replaced?
Thanks

No filter needs to be replaced. It also may be a good idea to suck out your clutch fluid with a turkey baster from the reservoir and put some fresh fluid in there as well.

Has anyone got a idea how to get the Pennzoil fluid transfer pump. The Pennzoil web page gave me only fluids, oil etc. There no Pennzoil retailers in my area that I can question about this. Also are there anyone else that sells this tool? I want to do a complete drive train fluid change on my C5 Z06 this winter and it looks like this it the tool to have. Thanks in advance for any info.

I just changed tranny fluid on Sat, went to the local Kragens Auto Parts store and bought a siffion pump for gas as well as oil, neat little package, $14.00 bucks and out the door, pump worked just great.
I think it took longer to jack up the car than it did to change the fluid.
Easy job to do and you won't have to take it to the dealer.
BTW, I used Royal Purple trans fluid and could tell the difference on the first shift, not earth shattering, but you can feel it was smoother than before, and before wasn't bad.

[QUOTE=RoHo;1567844183]Both of your DYS write up's for the Trans and Rear End fluid changes were done very well - Thank You -
Both of these pictorials should be permanently shown at the top of the Z06 page for other DYS guy's.
Anyone save the link to his diff fluid change out?
Thanks in advance. Great write up and thanks for taking the time to educate some us shade tree mechanic's.

Thanks for the feed back. As luck would have it I went grocery shopping with my wife to the Meijer store the day I made that post. They had it! I really did not expect that, given the amount of junk they sell. Sticker price of 4.99(pn 36670). While I was at it bought a Shop Craft "Multi-Use Pump" for 9.99 too pump out as much of the old fluid as I can.
I agree that the original how-to post is great. Just the kind of thing that lets you know that "yes, you can do this!"

Question, is the Redline MTL an ATF like the Dextron or is it transmission oil?
