At Walmart, in the 2 cycle section in the auto dept they have fluid transfer pumps.

After draining mine (until it stopped dripping) ,I was only able to get 3.1 quarts in before it started to drain out. Is that o.k.?

That's at the lower end of what's typical, but I wouldn't worry one second. Depending on angle, etc., 3.25 Qts is common. There's no benefit to over filling these.

Get a good quality pump. I bought a white pump at the local parts store and on the 3rd pump, the top of the plunger broke off. I was stuck at home, alone with no fluid in my transmission. Luckily, I had a small air pump, so I connected some small air tubing (like on aquariums) to a hole in the top of the bottle and used the air compressor to pressurize the top of the bottle, pushing the fluid up the tube and into the transmission. To completely empty the bottle, you need a fill tube that goes all the way to the bottom. You don't even need a special top. You can drill a hole in one of the caps that comes on the bottle, so that the tubing fits tight, and just push it in until it touches the bottom.

Ok C2C6Z06, I just bought a Z06 and live just minutes from you so how bout I stop by some time to borrow this really nice lift of yours so I can change the fluid in my trans? I just did the differential and it was a PITA with 4 jack stands. I'll bring some beer.

I opened the fill plug first and than opened my drain plug but no rush of fluid came out like I expected. I believe in my manual it said 4.5 quarts, so i expected more fluid to come out. It was only a small stream. Did anybody else have any issues like this? How much fluid did everyone else think came out, because i know your not going to get it all out. Any suggestions to what i can do to make sure all my fluid is out???? Thanks

If you don't track the car, I would do it every 15-20 K miles or 2 years of use.

Has anyone noticed smoother, less notchy shifting after doing this? Mine is a little notchy when cold. I just did the rear end fluid change and am considering this one as well. Mine is a 2006 Z06 with 14,000 miles.

Thanks for the writeups
