The Thing I dont get Ranger is. After looking through all the fluid ratings on the link you attached. It seems the Valvoline Pro 3/4 has some of best ratings and bang for buck compared to all on the list. So how could it be performing so poorly in my Z? I dont even see Prestone on the list do you know what the Boiling points are for that one? Thanks

The framework for defining pedal issues is setting aside pedal hangs on the launch, which are characteristic of the LS7 clutch if the release is not fast and below 3600-3800.

The main symptom that sweeps across Corvettes of 1997-2009 and many other brands is pedal issues at high-rpm. I am assuming that's what you are experiencing sometimes.

Given that, If your clutch fluid is very fresh and clean and you are still having pedal issues, then you may have a damaged seal in the hydraulics. The cheapest and most accessible part to change is the master cylinder.

But before taking that path, I'd swap to a different fluid that is proven to work well in the C6Z. That would be the two fluids in the video. BTW, regarding the Prestone DOT4 specs, 500 dry boiling and 311 wet boiling. If the fluid is kept fresh, then the wet boiling point (defined as 3% water content) never comes into play.

Thanks so much Ranger! I had been meaning to take a look at my fluid for longer than I would like to admit :o but finally did it a couple of days ago (using instructions from your website). I'm actually going to participate in my first drag session tonight (1/8 mile track) so I wanted to be sure it was clean before I went... it needed changed badly.

This video explains the process very clearly. Thanks again.

Hey Ranger welcome back......Guys when doing this fluid change remember as stated in the video cover your fender with a towel. If the fluid gets on your fender you are in trouble.

Ok ill try that out and try to find the Prestone 4 thankyou what are your views on dumping the clutch? everyone seems to tell me im doing more damage and wear by easing the clutch out quickly and launching. Rather than just getting it up to 4000 or so and dumping it.

Very well done video.

I have been following your advise changing the fluid frequently and using the GM Super Dot 4. I have ATE Super Blue (amber) that I use for brake fluid but am reluctant to switch as I have had NO CLUTCH PROBLEMS

I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU USE RUBBER GLOVES WHEN SERVICING !!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Yaroslav.

You can compare the specifications of good fluids in this chart

The Motul 5.1 looks fine if it's available where you are.

LS7 clutch is finicky and intolerant of slip. My clutch has made 166 passes using a fast release that minimizes slip.

So another words you still would recommend a quick release rather than a "dump".

Where can you find that syringe. I have one that I use but its half the size of the one you have. HAd a tough time just finding the one I have. How many times do you think it would take to flush through the valvoline with the new prestone to get through the whole system? Thanks

I also use Motol 600 on my 2008 Z06. I had to Mail order it because I could'nt find it in the local stores. I "Turkey Baster" it out about every 2 weeks and I drive it about 2-3 days a week. So far my clutch is holding up great.

Go to a local medical supply store and get their largest syringe. It should cost about $2.00. I use one of these and can empty the clutch master cylinder in one pass. And thanks to Ranger, I've had no clutch troubles.
