Default Castrol Edge Synthetic 5W-30

With the shortage of Mobil 1 still affecting Wal-Mart and other sources, anyone using the new Castrol Edge? We used to run Castrol GTX conventional oil back in the day and had great results (non-foaming; no sludge, etc.) and was wondering about their new synthetic.

GM4718M. Meet that spec and don't worry about the brand. I used Penzoil this time around because of the Mobil shortage issues. No worries. I will have to say I have never been a fan of GTX but I am pretty sure it's all in my head. Who knows, maybe I'll end up giving that try next time around.

Castrol GTX was recommended by BMW for years, just like they recommend using Techron for cleaning the fuel system.

How about Farrari recommending Quaker Full Syn.

It's whomever pays the most to the manufacturer gets the billing.

We have a winnner! What better marketing ploy? Same with OEM tires. Whoever provides the best deal puts their product on the car.
