Default Can I Use a Magnet To Program New Tire Pressure Sensors?

I have new wheels coming with sensors and don't want to go to the dealer and local tireshops probably won't have the tool.

Thanks

No. The C6 utilizes a 125khz transmitted signal to program the tire pressure sensors. You can pickk up a tool on the auction site for about $175.

some are cheaper. I use the Ateq VT50........works great and loves to gobble up 9V batteries. To use this tool or any TPMS resetting tool, put the car in accessory mode, hold door open and door close buttons down on fob until the horn chirps (about 2-3 seconds). the go to the left front wheel and hold the tool next to the valve on the tire and trigger the tool. The horn will chirp. Go to the right front, right rear, then left rear and repeat. At the last wheel, the car chirps twice and you're done. Very handy tool.

Save some money (a ton actually) and buy the Ateq VT10 model for $99. I've been using it for almost a year on my track wheels / street wheels. Here's the link for it:

PM me if you have any questions.

Or...Just run by the dealer. I just had mine programmed in my new wheels last week at no charge. It's really hard for the technician to screw up your car while doing this. Especially if you stay there and watch.

Hey there Harold. I heard you decided to keep your car. What wheels are you putting on it?

29 inch ronals on the back and 27 inch ronals on the front in millennium yellow....I hope it looks ok...I got a deal on them for $8500

I bought a set of Chrome OEM takeoffs to replace my polished OEM...they have tires with 200 miles on them...took of an 07 that was new. I need to reprogram the sensors already install on them and selling my setup

Ah man, I would have went with velocity yellow. No refunds huh?

That would had been the only thing I would had changed on your car. You will see a big difference. Shoot me some pics when you get them on.

Disclaimer: I have no verified proof that this works, because we just used an actual tool to reprogram mine after my tires were mounted.

Supposedly, you can put the car in learn mode and start letting air out of each tire. You're supposed to follow the normal sequence, but the vehicle registers the changing response from each sensor and assigns it to that corner of the vehicle. I have absolutely no proof that this works, and we simply saw it in the manual for the tool (it was apparently a back-up method if the tool wasn't working).

No - sorry to say that method won't work with the C6 sensors.

You must use a tool.

The sensors on many other GM/GMC vehicles will trigger by increasing or decreasing the tire pressure for 8 to 10 seconds, but not the C6.

Below is a video of using a tool to do the relearn procedure.

Yes, it uses a 9 volt.

They have been selling like hotcakes at that price. I have more scheduled to arrive tomorrow. As long as you place your order by 11:59pm 2-28-09 you will get the sale price.

For example, a standard AA alkaline battery is a 1.5 volt battery and a rechargable AA batttery is 1.2 volts. So a rechargeable battery starting with a fresh charge is already less volts than a normal or alkaline battery. Some products dont work or dont work as well with rechargables due to their lower voltage. Rechargables are otherwise known as Nicad or NiMH batteries. I did check with Bartec and was told Trackside works with rechargeables.

Duracell must have a stake in these programers. They eat batteries like a kid eats a bag of candy.I pull the battery when I'm done, but you don't get many tires done till they"re gone
