Oil additives
Is there any advantage in using an oil additive like Zmax to help lubrication of the bearings in difficult conditions (high g's)?

None, in my opinion. No bearing is going to live with low or no oil pressure or entrained air in the oil. The crank and rods actually ride on a layer of oil. Remove that oil and you have metal to metal, not so good. And, if it is just low oil pressure it may take a while to show up.

I advise against using the majority of oil additives, if you already use a decent/good oil. Only exceptions are if you:
a) Analyze the base chemistry of your oil
b) Analyze the chemistry of the proposed additives
c) Know enough to predict how they will work together
d) Analyze the "mix" & your used engine oil (UOA's) to see how it works in your engine compared to the reference standard
I've been known to use a few additives on special occasions, but I always analyze how things are working. However, I don't trust any of the claims Zmax makes, as many additives which make these types of claims can be harmful to your engine (long term) & rather toxic.
The only 2 additives that I've seen possibly help Mobil 1 (that are readily available to the public) are:
1) Schaeffer's #132
2) Lube Control Distributors LC-20
You mix these in a 3:1 ratio & add ~1-2oz of the "brew" per quart of oil in the engine (i.e. 8-16oz in a Z06).

All that stuff is all snake oil taking up space where oil should be. Just run synthetic, check it every 1k and change every 5k. Everything else is overkill for non-track use.

From the owners manual:
Engine Oil Additives
Do not add anything to the oil. The recommended
oils with the starburst symbol that meet GM
Standard GM4718M are all you need for good
performance and engine protection.
cheers!

With less Zinc in the oils for the last few years due to catalitic converter issues i have added a pint of GM EOS to every oil change as piece of mind.It may not do much but I know it has high zinc content which is what i am after.
