Headliner Removal in 2006 Z06
Does any know the procedure from removing the headliner in the Z06 in order to be able to tighten the roof nuts/bolts and lube the seals?
I have a body squeak and I believe it is coming from the roof. About one year ago, the roof panel was replaced due to de-lamination.

Yeah, there are several things you have to do but not necessarlying in this order:
1. Remove the A-Pillar covers. You will need to remove the small trim piece on the forward verticle door sill first. Then the pillar covers pop off. Just give them a firm gentle tug from the top then one from towards the windshield. There are two clips IIRC.
2. Remove the sunvisor clips towards the rear view mirror. These just unscrew.
3. Remove the sun visors. This is a little trick as you need to have the visor pulled down and turned partially out. You then insert a flast head into al slot in the mounting bezel and rotate the bezel and visor at the same time. It's tough to describe, best to get a copy of the manual or better yet, do a search on the forum. one of the forum members here had some good pictures and a step by step on how to take these off.
4. Finally, you need to pop of the Halo cover. On my 06 Z06 there are 3 pins plus some velcro like patches that hold the halo into place. You can pop off the back part of the halo where the velcro is then you have to pull out the pins. They need a good tug to get them out.
After that, the headliner should just fall down.

I recently had the top on my Z replaced and was with the tech while he did the deed. Was told the "screws" that attach the roof frame to the car are a "one time use" item because of the special thread sealant. To get the old ones out he put an electric soldering gun on each screw head and held it on for about a full two minutes to heat the sealant enough to break loose. If your dealer reused the screws or even just one of them this is likely the cause of your squeak as they will work loose. I think there are eleven of these screws. Before I would attempt to do what you wish to do I would order and have the new screws on hand. Just a thought.

I have a horrible crack/snap sound from the roof on my 09 zr1. It was suggested by GM Engeneers that the no. 13 bolts that secure the roof panel to the windshield frame might be loose.
Anybody have pics from their headliner removal?
After the aft vercro is loosened, does the headliner just pull straight down?
I figured out the sunvisors.
If you got any pics I'd appreciate it. I'll post some after I figure this out.
Thanks!

Sun visors are the hardest part to be honest. They require you to stabalize part of them with a screwdriver while you turn the rest then they pop out. Interior a pillars are easy and clip off. And the rest is just simple unbolting and 10 10mm bolts and a few shims. Ill be doing this tomorrow for the second time in two years.

Great info.
When you start taking down the headliner, an you take some pics?
It's always easier to pull parts off when I know where the tabs are, and the direction to pull.
Also, where are the 10 bolts? The back of my headliner is covered by a wide plastic strip with tabs through it. Guess it comes off and then the headliner has Velcro at least on the end by the rear hatch?
From here I'm unclear on how the headliner is attached to the roof panel

My car an 06Z has a small rattle coming from the roof area an I want to do this. Anyone seen anything with updated pictures? My car has had the roof recall but it was 10 years ago.

Burning Brakes
There were two roof recalls, the one 10 years ago was to inject epoxy if delamination was present, this recall was a failure so a second recall for replacement of the entire roof is still valid if it wasnt already done on your car. My 2006 C6Z is going in next Monday for the recall.
