Default How do I jack up one wheel on my 09 zo6

I want to remove my tires and would like to know if I can jack up one tire at a time if I use the jacking pucks or if I have to jack up the front two or the rear two at the same time,(because of the aluminum frame). The manual shows pictures of jacking it up on the cross members and lower control arms but I do not think that is right. Can I use the puck and just jack up one tire?

Absolutely - although in most cases you will find the other wheel on the same .side will be off the ground also. I use the frame rail just under the rear view side mirror (look for the triagular piece of black metal) so that both wheels go up about equally.

This is how I was able to get my car on jack stands...works great. There's a small piece of frame exposed under the rear view that will allow you to jack the whole side of the car up equally.

I jack in the middle of the side frame rail, where the seat brace ties in. You have to go a bit further inboard to clear the rocker, but it's quick and easy with a bit of practice. The extra seat reinforcement actually makes it a very sturdy place to jack, and a 1" thick piece of wood adds a bit of extra protection for the paranoid among us.

btw, make sure the jack can roll towards the car, or you could rip your rocker off. In 12 years of hydroformed frames I've managed to never do this.

This is a better explanation of the same method I use, in fact I got the method from a post from this very same gentleman...

Thanks davidfarmer...

You don't need the pucks!!! Just look under the car and be sure that you are in an inch or so from the rocker panel and as Dave says besure that the jack is rolling as you jack it up. Also be very careful if you are installing jack stands from one side to the other rather than front and back. Because from side to side the car tends to want to push off the opposite side. JD
