Default Dealer Mods On New Z06

I've been looking for a new Z06 and came across a dealer that has a mod package that they will do to a new Z. They will add headers, exhaust, x pipe, cold air induction, and tune for $8000 on top of the price of the car. They say that this will put the cars power comparable to a ZR1. They also say that the mods and tune will not void any warranty. I'm looking for some opinions and insight. Are these mods worth the extra $8000? Will these mods actually make a
Z06 have ZR1 power? Will these mods and tune void any warranty?

Thanks

I can't answer whether the Z would hang with a ZR1, but I'd be really concerned if the dealership ever went out of business and you had a major mechanical issue. Would another dealership cover the cost of repairs? I'm thinking you may have a challenge. It's good you asked this question prior to the purchase.

These bolt on mods will not bring the Z up to the power level of the ZR1. Will need a cam or some type of power adder.

the dealer would not be working on the car since I live out of state. They are telling me since they are dealer installed and only bolt ons that there would not be an issue and that whatever dealer i have service it would not have any issues. I am gonna call some dealerships were i live and talk with them about it. I would get this angle worked out before any purchase is made.

Sounds like a salesman talking. If the car has a tune, there goes the powertrain warranty. Here we go again...

run away... the dealer is blowing smoke up your ***. Any "on the level" dealer will treat mods with great caution these days. It sucks but that's how the game works these days.

Even if they were telling the truth (they arent) 8000 dollars is a ripoff, you could get a supercharger package for that much. Another dealer will most likely NOT honor any sort of warranty they claim it will have, and you will not be close to ZR1 power, you might get close to 500RWHP but not guarenteed. The tune not voiding your warranty is a straight up LIE.

Run, don't walk away from that dealer.

A corsa extreme exhaust (expensive one)... $1600 plus instalation

Cold Air intake $400

Diablo hand held computer tuner $400 (reversable back to factory tune anytime)

So are headers and xpipes worth over 5k?... nope.

They are shafting you.

I am really amused that they claim this will bring you up to ZR1 speed. All this only adds 40-60 HP.

:

I have all these mods and the HP isnt anywhere near 638HP. Your lucky if it gives you 30-40 hp. I really didnt notice any difference in the stock Z06 and my modded Z06 . also the dealership went out of business. Now I have a problem. A whole big can of worms has been opened. I dont think that Ill have a problem because I dont race or get on it much. but for the guy who really enjoys his car and brings it to its potential regularly breakdowns are not if its going to happen , but when its going to happen.

for that much money, send it to Lingenfelter, get a proven package with a 3 year warranty for sure. That dealer deal sounds skeptical....

the dealer is a lying sack of dong...it will void the warranty and you won't be close to a ZR1...I wish there was a way to report those lying sacks to GM, and I wish GM would pull their "license" to sell GM products (if there was such a thing)...those types of dealers need to be shut down for misrepresentation of the GM product (the warranty part).

I bet if you asked the Service Manager, he would tell you the warranty would not be honored. Either they feel the $8k they are charging would cover repairs, or they are just plain stupid. I can tell you that GM would not allow another dealer to cover it. I have seen this happen with something as simple as a lift kit and tires that were dealer installed on a truck. The customer got denied warranty while out of town and had to pay for repairs the selling dealer told them would be covered anywhere.
