What has happened to drag racing since i got out of it 40 years ago.

Does the time not start until the car leaves now?? On that second video the car sat for a good second after the green........???

Correct. You could sit there for an hour if you wanted to. The time starts when you cross the beam at the starting line. At a rental with no one next to you in the other lane the goal is to get the launch just right and have the best e.t. possible, not worry about catching the light

Which has always been true, even 40 years ago. Elsewise you could never have a situation where a guy ran a lower ET, but lost.

Thanks for the clarification......... sort of takes half the sport out of it......JMHO......

Also noticed that he stayed in it long after the timing lights lit up....... what is that for?

Nice launches........ you guys have your poop together to get out of the hole like that

(used to drag a pure stock 69 340 cuda back in the day)

I don't remember ever doing it that way up here in the north. Not that I did that many solo runs......

I think it's caused by the exhaust sound taking some time to reach the camera, while the visual is instantaneous. That delay in the sound makes it look like he stayed on the gas after the time was displayed.

OTOH, sometimes I would keep my boot in it passed the 1320 line to get a better mph. The speed trap extends beyond the finish line.

What is the DA for this passes ?

Thank you,
Good luck !!

Thanks Sébastien!! Unfortunately it wasn't on stock tires. The track didn't hook good enough on the shifts to make a run that fast without DR's Monday. I only made 5 or 6 stock tire passes early in the day. It stuck at the very beginning but got a little too slick on the shifts after a couple hours there. I did manage to get an 11.17 @127 before I put on jamies DR's though. That moved me up by .02
I ran an 11.02 last year with the Corsas on stock tires but that don't count as stock which is what I'm looking to do.
I think the DA was in the -1200 range from what I heard.

Is this their stage 1 680hp package or maybe a stage 2 with exhaust?

Other then the very beginning of the day, the DA was under 1000 all day. Several times i had the weather station thingy out it was -600 -700. The DA never really improved in the evening like it normally does.
