Default Mount Front License plate on c6 z06

license plate bracket and holder provided when I purchased car has adhesive tabs for aligning the plate on front bumper and is recommended you drill holes to hold in place

1. is the adhesive enough to hold the bracket as provided by the dealer in place without drilling holes in bumper?(has anyone experimented with this?)

2. The attached link has a removable plate/ bracket that mounts in the open area where air is fed to the radiator condensor. My concern with this one is it would block airflow into the radiator for cooling purposes.

http://www.topflightrepro.com/bracketinstall.pdf

Already been pulled over for not having front plate. Going to have to bite the bullet and do something.

Any air flow that gets blocked is not an issue on streets or highways. If you are doing a lot of driving in the 120+ mph region then it might be an issue. But then you can remove the plate. It will not be an issue on a road course as they don't require plates and if you are doing those kinds of speeds on the road the lack of a plate will be the least of your problems.

There is a reason why GM mounted the plate high on the bumper. They could have mounted it in the center, but didn't. Granted, it looks like sh*t, but rather have a cooler running engine, with no obstruction. I personally do not like any plate on these cars.

Pay the ticket or completely ruin the look of your car. Top flight pro. makes a plate that folds under the front bumper. Remote also if you want, i wont even do that.

These are not made for the ZO6. I have the removeable mount in the center of the grill. Looks like s.... but cheaper than a California plate ticket. Some of the plate tickets are are not just vechicle code violations, but municipal code violations. These can be pricy.

As I said on the street it really isn't an issue. It isn't an issue on the drag strip either as the car doesn't run long enough for it to be an issue. The cooling air intake is designed to cool the engine when it is producing max power for sustained periods. If you aren't doing that the plate will not block enough air to cause a problem.

Have you tried the other one? I like the zip one because it seems you can take it off pretty quick.

Thanks

To all the "Doubting Thomases" out there: I've been running the removeable front license bracket from www.topflightrepro.com (yes, MD is a two-plate state and the LEOs look for that damn front tag all the time) since I took delivery of the car in 2006 and have experienced no over-heating or other cooling issues whatsoever when running the front plate, even in 100+ degree weather with the a/c running. These are still Chevys engineered and built for the street, not NASCAR COTs or F1 Ferraris.

To answer the original question, NO, you do NOT need to drill holes to mount the OEM front tag holder - the self adhesive discs will hold the bracket on, but, why would you want to mount that hideuos looking thing anyway? Get the removeable unit from topflightrepro!

I highly recommend moving to Florida. We don't run front plates.

Oh, Yea, I almost forgot ... we don't have winter either.

Very easy..about 10 minutes....No drilling, etc....but it helps to get the car up on a lift as the nose sits so low ..
