Here's how the forum can give back and thank Frank Gonzalez
Dear Forum Members,
As you are all aware we lost a very good friend to the Forum and Corvette community, Frank Gonzalez. All of your recent posts have shown just how dear and helpful he was, whether you met him or not. I have spoken with Frank's wife several times and directed her to the forum posts where she read everybody's kind and well deserved comments about her husband. She was quite touched and although our words cannot bring Frank back, we surely can do our part to make sure he is not forgotten.
I spoke with her about a fund that could be set up in Frank's memory at the National Corvette Museum (NCM). She said there could not be a better place preferred for donations to go and was elated about the idea. As of today, I set up the Frank Gonzalez Fund with the assistance of Roc Linkov and Adam Boca. Our goal is to raise enough money to purchase a bench, $5,000. If we fall short, a 1/2 bench could be an option, but let's think big.
You may contact Megan Meredith at the NCM to contribute by calling:
800.538.3883 and ask to speak with Megan at ext. 136
If you'd prefer to send in a check payable to the National Corvette Museum, just note Frank Gonzalez Fund in the memo and mail to:
Megan Meredith
c/o National Corvette Museum
350 Corvette Dr
Bowling Green, KY 42101
It goes without saying that the past 18 months of economic hardship have taken a toll on most people financially. I also realize there are a many deserving charities including St. Judes that continually need our support. With that in mind, please consider donating whatever you feel comfortable with to Frank's Fund. No amount is too small as pennies make dollars.
I will keep the thread current as the fund grows. This is a chance for all of us to give back.
I personally just made the first contribution to the Frank Gonzalez Fund and urge you all to rally together to help make this happen.
The Gonzalez family thanks you for your consideration and support.

Mike, a lot of people may prefer to use Paypal. Is there anything set up at the NCM to where we could send a donation via Paypal? It would also be instant and an easy way to update the thread without having to wait on the postal service.

Rich,
We do not accept paypal due to several reasons, but one of which it is an accounting nightmare with all of the other accounting items we have here at the museum. We have looked into it, and will continue investigating that as a future option.
If you would like to call in a Credit Card please do so by calling 800.538.3883 and ask to speak with Megan.
Thanks!

Very good idea, Mike. It is a great way to pay tribute to one GREAT guy!

PS: Thank his wife for the box of Depends. She read our emails and bought them for Frank to give to me last year.

Mike,
Thanks for getting this started. I just PM'd you and sent you an e-mail string with another idea that supports this bench.
Please e-mail me back when you see the idea. It's 1:30 am here in India, so I need to sleep now.
Thanks,
Steve

This is a very nice idea Mike. Like always you are a good friend you can count on and I'm sure Frank is smiling down on you from a better place.
Like I said I didn't know the man but I respected his passion for the Corvette, the Corvette community and his beloved auto racing. I know you held him in high regard as a freind. I'm sorry for your loss.
I just called Megan with my contribution.
She is a nice person to talk to btw.

Mike, we haven't met yet but I've heard alot about you & the "BEAST" from Frank & Steve Landstra over the last year. Looking forward to the day we do meet. I will be contacting Megan tomorrow with my donation. Great idea.
Also, I just picked up a Z06 T1 car @ Phoenix Performance this weekend to race in SCCA this year. There will be graphics on the car in memory of Frank when it hits the track later this month. My daughter Emilee & I are working on the design now.
Thanks, Joey T.

I, too, was deeply saddened to have read of the passing of Frank. Thank you for providing this thoughtful opportunity to express my gratitude for his contributions to the vette community. I never had the pleasure of meeting him or taking instruction from him, but I eagerly looked forward to his posts. His wonderful passion and experience had a way of jumping through the screen and igniting mine all the more. I will miss him. My donation is being sent as well. May God bless and comfort his family.
