Default Code p0300

Hey Guys...

Went to dinner last night and on the way home I noticed the CEL on the dash lit up. It's still on today so I drove to Autozone and they scanned it and came up with p0300....Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire.
My question is...could it be from a while ago or do you think since the cel (cel is constant) is on that this is the reason....I've had the car less than 2 weeks. 5,500 miles 06. Mods intake, 160 stat and dyno tune.
I had the wheels tires off yesterday and removed the rear wheel well liners yesterday installing racemesh grilles in the front/rear. I was doing some yanking/clanking while taking if off near the gas cap area from underneath.
Any thoughts?

I'd have that looked at, as it may be something that could leave you stranded road side. Maybe just a loose crank trigger or bad coil pack, but something you're wanting to have corrected before a long trip.

I know this sounds silly, but check the spark plug cables. I got the same thing a few months ago and the code really surprised me so I opened the hood and had a look. One of the cables on a spark plug had come loose. The car was bone stock and hadn't been touched. It just worked itself loose.

Could be just a bad tank of gas. Did you recently fill up at your local save-a-buck? I got the P..0300 code due to bad gas that actually smelled like alcohol when I took a sample out of my fuel rail fittings.

I put in a couple cans of gas enhancer and ran the bad stuff out over a week or so and everything was back to normal.

No new codes since.

I'll check them, thanks!

Car was delivered two weeks ago with a full tank and I'm still on it lol.

No new codes since.

Checked the wires they are all snug. I'll have my guy check everything tomorrow and if it's still throwing the code I'll take it to the local dealer.

My guy pulled the plugs, checked for vacume leaks etc. etc. to no avail. Where can I buy a scanner tool that will give me a more in depth codes that can point me in the right direction?

Don't ignore "Quick06's" mention of bad gas, as it's entirely possible. While not a Vette, my sister was recently having misfire/engine light problem's in her daily Buick. Turn's out she was buying gas at the corner mini-mart, to save a few pennies. Got her to gas up at the major's, and problem solved. As for scanner's, I have an Auto X-ray 6000, the has more feature's than most. You can go to their web site, and punch in code's from any scanner for maybe a bit more help.

I bought a scanner today and cleared the code and printed out all the "freeze frame" into that gives all the diagnostic info. at the time of the code...just filled it up with Sunoco 93. Hopefully it doesn't come back.

Take the car back to the tuner and ask him to pull a idle and part throttle scan with a "PID" for engine misfire on each cylinder. He should be able to tell you if its fuel or air related also if it's the crank position sensor, which can cause this. From here double check plugs, wires and coils. Switch them around to eliminate each one. If it's none of those then it's in leak down test time.
