Default Bad paint job?!?!

Any idea what the heck this dude is talking about?!?!

I have a black 2008 and see some very very minor orange peel in places but no issues with the actual color...

Have no idea what he's talking about. May possibly be a serious defect in the paint on his particular car. I've got an '06 black z06 with none of his listed issues.

My paint does look very "greyish" in bright lighting, and not the deep black as you will see on a Mercedes. I wouldnt go as far as to make some of the comments he did, nor is it as bad as he made it seem....In most lighting the black looks great...but in some bright light it doesnt.

our black isnt very deep black.

I just had a professional spend 10 hours on a paint correction....so my paint is as it left the factory...if not better....but still has that "dull black" - grey - look in certain lighting.

Well i do paintwork and i can tell you that a lot of blacks from the factory have more colors than black in them. Some have white, a touch of green, magenta, red etc. Its not a lot but does have some. The GM standard color is U8555 Onyx black. Yes it is pretty shiny and glossy but it does have a greyish/white tint to it. Yes some is due to the type of black but some clears die back a little when they dry causing the paint to HAZE. The guy dont have but really a couple options. 1. Cut and buff it do death and helps somewhat or 2. Sand the whole thing down and get him some House of Kolor bc-25, (German black) the blackest black you can get and he will be happy.

I know exactly what he means. I do not have black, but my 2008 VR C6Z had 7 different shades of red on it. The paint on the fenders was so thin that you could see the black CF through the clearcoat.

This is the day I picked it up, notice the difference between the fender and the door. I didn't catch it until a weeek later, but GM made it right and repainted the entire car.

No offense, but that photo doesn't really show anything. The photo is way too dark to see what you're speaking about. That said, GM is not necessarily known for their paint jobs. Glad GM made it right for you.

I have a 2006 (built in Oct '05). I agree with the comments on the poor paint quality. 99% of the time you can't see the problem, but if you get my car in some UV light the paint looks horrible in the problem areas. My car only has problems on the driver side rear quarter panel. Mainly in the door jamb. I can actually see the primer through the black. You can also see it when you take a flashlight to the paint.

The first time I noticed it was about 2 months after I bought the car. It was in the shop while having a clearbra installed. It looked so bad I thought some gray overspray got on the car. Fortunately almost all of the problem area is in the door jamb and it is more noticable under UV light than sunlight.

I also think this car has an unnacceptable amount of orange peel from the factory. I still love the car and think the car is great value, but I would like to see GM improve their paint quality in the future.
