Default video From ZR1 run in Spectre 341 Challenge hill climb

Hi Guys,
Here is the video from our ZR1 up the hill at the Spectre 341 Hill climb.

we did win the event with a 3:21.747 one second faster than the Millen GTR.

Yes, there is more time in the ZR1 but this is not a normal course.

"Keep your foot to the floor until the thrill of speed is overcome by the fear of death." And that was in play here if you have never been up this road this fast.

The last driver up the hill crashed at the end of the straight and did not make it. RIP
God Speed. VR Alexander in a Porsche turbo was the driver. Sad way to end the event.

THanks and we will post up some video when we get back

Lou Gigliotti

Thanks guys,

This was the most nerve racking event I have ever been to. Good thing our ZR1 was fast enough to win even though I left a bunch on the table.

The afternoon times were slower because of the heat of the day but we got the car better and I was learning the track better, so we went as fast in the afternoon heat as we did in the cooler morning.

If we had the improved car and track knowledge during our morning run it would have been much faster.

We had the car lowered with our LG Drop spindles but we left the factory springs and shocks on because they worked very well and why mess with success.

The power increase came from upper and lower pulleys, our LG Super Pro 1 7/8 headers, and a good computer/dyno tune.

We adjusted our rear swaybar (LGM G1 Sway bars) and we added some aero fences on the front splitter to help front down force. These two changes helped the car a lot.
The car was very good just the way we showed up but we kept taking rear wing out (less angle and less wicker) because there was not enough front down force even with the 4" splitter.
The rear wing is our GT2 wing that we sell that is exactly like our ALMS wing. It needed front tunnels to balance it if we were going to run the big wicker and big angle. We still ran it at a good angle with a small wicker. The front splitter added enough down force to need the wing, so they both went in a positive direction.

The power in the high altitude even with the Super charger was down. We lost 2 pounds of boost at 5500'. A turbo would have been better.

I emailed the organizers (after I got the trophy) that I would love to come back but first they would have to get some guard rails in some key places. Crashing into a guard rail is better than sailing over a 500' cliff.

It was a very very sad ending to have VR Alexander's accident come out the way it did. He seemed like a great guy who loved cars like all of us. God speed.

Thanks

Lou Gigliotti

Great stuff Lou. If it you do end up going back, do you think you left enough on the table to challange the record?

the record was run on racing slicks. I think we could see a 3:18 or close to that without slicks but to hit a 10 would take slicks.

ALSO, if we ran it in a different month with cooler weather, we might see 5-8 seconds with just the cooler weather.

if they put guard rails up, that record would fall more quickly.

Sad to hear about VR. But we all choose to do what we do and if we go doing what we love then we should rather spend our time remembering just how good someone was and how much that person loved what he/she did... GS!

Great driving! Did you ever find yourself fixating on the drop offs while storming through the track?

I think so. I have never driven on 888 tires but from what I heard the Proxis is better
