Default OEM exhaust tips

2007 Z06 oem exhaust tips - are they stainless steel or chrome plated? I cleaned mine with a medium abrasive ball and metal polish and they seem dull now compared to my many previous attempts. All the black specks are gone but so is the "shine". I tried Flitz afterwards but no better.

They are stainless steel. When I first purchased my 2007 Z06 the tips were pitted and dull. I sanded the pits out of them with fine sand paper and then polished them with a kit I purchased at Harbor Freight for like $18.

It includes three different compounds and several different buffers that attach to a drill.

When I was finished with the tips they looked like brand new. It takes a lot of elbow grease but the results were worth it

Here is a picture of what the tips looked like when I sold them:

Good luck

Did you use a drill to get inside the tips?
Or did you do everything by hand using paper towels?
I prefer using micro-fiber towels.

I'll post some before/after pics.

I'll have to pickup a tube at my local Harley Davidson dealer.
