Default I Need help regarding code P0449 stepinside!

I put my bullets on and it was a pain removing the passenger side stock exhaust side. After getting everything buttoned up I started the car and my check engine light was on. I scanned it with my cheapo scanner and found that it was the exhaust valve emissisons solinoid thing. I researched it here and found the part number and replaced a very dirty sensor that I banged when I removed the exhaust. All the wiring harness looked intact no bare wires. So I read something about a fuse number 13 in the engine block fuse area. It looks like a relay. I moved a different relay/fuse in the place of that and ran the car light still on. I cleared it the computer and it went off. I turned the car off and let it sat and started again the light was on and it threw code 0449 (pd) regarding the solinoid. What's can I do besides going to the dealer to fix it.

did you try the fuse? I saw a thread where a guy changed the fuse and it fixed everything. Is it hard for you to put your car in reverse? My reverse is tough.

Thanks. I haven't noticed reverse being harder. Wouldn't that throw a different code though?

Hey spoonman I figured it out Im off to get a fuse to see if it works. Go into the engine block fuses. Look for a salmon colored 25 amp fuse located towards the right middle. Mine is blown Im thinking thats the problem. Will advise soon as I get the fuse.

Hey guys I did a search and came up with this informative thread....I just started getting the code 0449...Evaporative Emission system vent control circuit intermittent... I see in this thread they fixed it by changing the salmon(25) fuse....I checked mine and they are both good.Any suggestions? Thanks

I did not check it yet but I know they are connected cause I have a Mild 2 Wild switch and when I close the valves it's quiet....Is this what you are talking about? Any other suggestions......as soon as I clear the code it comes right back in a few seconds

The "check engine light" has nothing to do with the exhaust buttefly valves. this EVAP device is a solenoid located near the trans. It looks like an all black cigarette pack....about the same size as a pack of smoke. Mine was unplugged. Make sure to check that first and see if it is plugged in.

Did you recently put a new exhaust on? This is how mine was knocked lose then the CEL came on. As you mentioned, it won't scan out. It comes right back.

if it just came on, and you did the exhaust a while back, it probably isn't disconnected. Anyway, let us know what you find. This is good info for people to use in the future

Bringing back an old thread. I just got the P0449 code on my car. I checked the 25 amp fuse and it was OK. If I replace this solenoid, will I still need to clear the CEL or will it go off on its own after a few driving cycles?

I went underneath the car and unplugged this thing and plugged it back in to make sure the connections were OK and I am still getting a CEL. This part is cheap and I think I am going to just replace it instead of taking the car into the stealership.

Anyone?

Default Thank you !!!

Hey guys ...

I just wanted to say THANKS! Especially to Spoon Man for the description of the "Black Cigarette Pack" sized box on the side of the transmission. And to the others that talked about the 25 amp fuse.

I too did the Z06 muffler mod today (love it) and immediately had the Check Engine Light come on. Cleared it and it immediately came back on.

Did a search on the best forum in the world (this one) and found this string.

I got under the car and found the black box on the passenger side hanging down. I saw where it was supposed to be attached to the underside of the tunnel across from the transmission. Slid it back into place. It was still connected to its wiring harness, but I think that having it just hanging loose may have caused a short and blown the fuse.

So I then checked the two 25 amp fuses in the engine compartment. Sure enough, the one in the middle of the fuse block was blown. Replaced it.

Cleared the code again. Then started the car. No CEL! Turned it off, Started it again. No CEL showing! Hopefully the issue is over.

All thanks to you guys.
