Can you quantify some of the largest pieces of your reduction?

Thanks.

I just weighed my American Racing 1 7/8 longtube headers without cats and it came in at 49 lbs.

The headers were 24.5 lbs and the offroad X-pipe was also 24.5 lbs.

I just recieved this email from Hotchkiss about their sway bars:
"" I currently only have weights for packaged items. The 2284 kit which includes front and rear bars with all the hardware and packaging is 27lbs. The rear bar only with hardware and packaging is 12lbs. The biggest benefit from our bars is stiffness over stock. Our front Z06 bar is 20% stiffer than stock and the rear bar is 15% and 30% stiffer than stock. I hope this helps, if you need anything else please let me know, and Have a Great Day!""

and this one from Sam Strano @ stranoparts.com
""Mine are slightly lighter overall. Fronts are about the same as I use a 34.9mm bar with .250” wall to their 36.5mm bar with 4mm wall. My rear bar is lighter @ 22mm with a .156” wall they use a 25.4mm bar (which is too big anyway and promotes oversteer) with a similar sized wall. ""

So no solid #'s on Sam's bars but thats a decent idea of what the Hotchkiss weigh. Ill put the Strano bars on a scale to get exact #'s later this spring when I get them.

Keep us informed. Once you have weighed them without the packaging I'll incorporate them in the spreadsheet.

Excellent find, thanks!
I had found (and watched) this video clip on their Facebook page as well, but the remark has completely escaped my attention.
The weight saving of this roof is substantial (although a little less than claimed in the video - see Product Description from their website), even compared to those of MTI Racing's competitors.
I'm curious if anyone has purchased this roof panel and if he/she wants to share his/her experience here.

Product Description
This incredible addition to your C6 Corvette. MTI Composites has created the ultimate in light weight 100% carbon Fiber roof panels.
This piece not only is stronger than the original oem roof panel but weights a fraction of the oem weight. This panel only weights 7 lbs total compared to close to 23 for stock.
To get this kind of weight reduction in the highest point on your car lowers the cg dramatically and overall weight of the car.
It comes in a dry carbon finish or can be done in a beautiful clear coat as well for that show car quality look.

Did you notice their carbon hood @ 9.5 lbs
""This 100% carbon Fiber MTI Composites Heat Extractor Hood for your C6 Corvette is probably one of the nicest functional hoods on the market today. This hood weights only 9.5 lbs and each of the louvered vents can be removed and replaced with solid panels if the aerodynamic needs change. Drag racers will prefer the solid panel for a slicker less drag application where our Road Race customers will enjoy the heat extraction capabilities of this high performance hood. Can be used with hood pins or OEM hood brackets.""

I would just like to say thank you for all the hard work gone into this thread. Makes mod prioritizing much easier and is just a fascinating read in general.

I didn't notice it until I read your post. The hood has been added.

My pleasure! For me it's no burden or a punishment in any way.

Thank you for your post to alert me. The addition of this J-hook disk is pending.
I have tried to find a type specification in the thread that encompasses post # 17 that you are referring to, but in vain. I'll be happy to include the weight in the list once you or Jeff Ritter can supply that information.
I find the thread about the AP Racing Pro 5000R Brakes highly interesting, so again thank you.
Please note that the J-hook rotors CP5773 and CP4542 were already included previously.
In the mean time I took the opportunity to add the three calipers that are discussed. See the update form in the spreadsheet or the attached picture below

Hey sorry to leave you guys hanging as I have been spending a lot of time working/working on the car but yes I can throw up my spread sheet. It may cause some confusion as I was bad about pulling out several items and getting a group weight as opposed to individual items. Just ask as I still have most items around to get weights if needed.

Let's see if that worked?

So some big items

-Hatch release/pull down brick, dropped almost 4 Lbs back there.
-Padding behind dash, 5 Lbs 11.6 oz and could not get it all.
-Carpet, over 38 Lbs
-Battery swap, over 27 Lbs

Awesome job thanks but now I've got some questions for you
1-How did you lighten the hood hinges?
2-How did you get to the firewall sound insulation? I bet its involved
3-What did you do to lighten the headlights?
4-Where did you find all the sound tar and what did you use to get it off?
I love all this weight loss stuff!
Thanks again for doing this!

I too have a couple of questions.

1st question, mainly because I am not very familiar with US metrics:
You list a weight saving of 125 pounds + 2.2 ounces (exterior) and 310 pounds + 13.6 ounces (interior).
My calculation is as follows:
Interior: 293 pounds + 226.2 ounces * 0.0625 = (293 + 14.1375) pounds = 307.14 pounds
Exterior: 116 pounds + 105.8 ounces * 0.0625 = (116 + 6.6125) pounds = 122.61 pounds
Where do I make a mistake?
2nd question - Do you know how formulas work in a spreadsheet? If you do, you don't have to perform the arithmetic yourself.

3rd question - Do you have a suggestion how we can join forces one way or another, e.g. by merging our spreadsheets?

1-Drill baby Drill!
2-Strip the interior out and slide under the dash with a box cutter and dig in!
3- Who needs lights on a race car!
4- Under the body panels and under the carpet.

1-Your math does not fail you, I started subracting weight without adding items to the list, I need to update the spreadsheet. Felt the individual weights were the key but sorry for the confusion. I have about 17 more pounds to add to the list.

2-I do but I usaully have folks to build these for me!

3-As your spread sheet is much superior I say just let me know if you need any individual weights and I would be happy to supply to add to yours! Great job!
