For a stock or light modded, used the 90mm ring from Mike Norris.

I'm doing a LS7(64' restro-rod) with many changes, so I expect 10-12 hp(only a guess at this time).

End of month on engine dyno will tell.

Yes, the 102mm TB is larger then the 90mm OEM unit, but look at the camera angles. The are all biased towards the 102mm. Change the camera angle so the the 90mm is closer to the camera lens and the 102 won't look as large compared to the 90mm as the photos show.

Forget the looks. The MW has 28.5% more area and should flow about that much more air at the same pressure drop. Too bad 28.5% more air doesn't equate to 28.5% more horsepower.

what difference (if any) this 102 TB will have on a 440 forged block with ported Heads and a big cam vs a stock 427 with a mild cam?

Thanks in advance!

I'm sure it depends on other supporting mods in the induction...size/flow of CAI & intake manifold but I'm sure the bigger CI w/ ported heads would benefit more compared to the stock/cammed LS7.

For example...

*Late Model Engines 440ci
*RPM Ported Heads
*248/254 0.65/0.63 LSA 112 CAM
*FAST 102
*Varaam Intake

vs

*Stock 427ci
*milled stock heads
*Lethal Cam
*FAST 102
* Killer Bee

It will be the same WHP with the 102 TB on both set ups???

The 440 w/ RPM ported heads should show a larger gain.
Because that motor is set up to flow more air.
While you're at it, have Charley Williams port the 102 manifold.
That would give you maximum gain for the effort.
Here is another link talking about the NW102

Katech tested the fast 102 manifold with a stock TB and with a 102 TB on a LS7. The 102 only showed a gain somewhere above 6,000 rpm IIRC, and only a 5 hp difference, peak.

During the break in runs of my 416 the motor was only ran to 5600 RPM. That is with a Ported Fast 102 & AFR 230 heads & a 90 MM ported LS2 TB.

Then the 102 MM TB was installed with the appropriate Haltech Intake, at that same RPM 5600 the torque increase by nearly 25 ft-lbs.

My 102 will be here Friday. I won't be able to dyno for a few weeks because of snow. I also had to upgrade from a KB to the superbee intake to match the TB. I'm hoping for ~10rwhp. For the $1100 the 2 parts cost, that isn't a good bang for the buck.
