I have a 2007 Z06 and the shifter rattles in 2nd gear but only at 4000 rpm and up. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Do a search...there's tons of posts about this issue. It's a common problem.

You need to replace the shifter with the updated GM model. Mine did the same the first year I owned the car and GM replaced it under warranty.

skudlw- I have an early 08 Z, and I get some whining noise when i'm in the shift, is this what your talking about?

is c6shifter and z06shifter the same

Whining and rattling are probably different.

Marbles in a can syndrome. Pretty commom from what I have read. Mine does it also.SKUDLW said GM replaced his under warranty, think i'll check into that this spring. Good luck. Marc L.

The marble in a can is not what he's describing. The marble in a can sound is when driving slow at low RPM, parking lot in 2nd gear, etc.., and that's due to the torque tube converter design. His issue is what I posted above.

Talking about a rattle noise, not whine. Mine started rattling at about 2000 miles and was replaced by the dealer with the newer model shifter.
