2010 Z06 vs 2011 Z06
My cousin picked a 2011 Grand Sport over a 2010 Z06. I am considering getting the 2010 Z06. Are there enough changes in the 2011 model to not consider this ? I heard the exhaust changed for 2011 and the tires also but I can save 20K on the 2010 model. These cars depreciate fast so I don't know if this would be a good move. Any comments ?

Unless you want the Z07 package (carbon brakes, ZR1 tire/wheels, and mag suspension) or the two new colors (Supersonic Blue or Inferno Orange), IMHO, save the money and get the 2010.
The carbon fiber aero pieces and exhaust can be purchased and added to any car.

Ohh and as far as depreciating...nothing depreciates faster than a Porsche!!
A 911 turbo can go from 0-60 in under 4 seconds and also $120k to $60k in less than 2 years!

And, $20,000 buys a lot of exhaust systems of any kind you could possibly want without negating the warranty.
Trust me IF your cousin's a performance nut, he'll regret his decision within mere seconds after a short ride in your "old" Z06.
The Z06 is a pure pleasure machine, explicitley designed to put huge grins on whoever sits behind the wheel.
Good luck with your decision, IMO I really feel a brand new unsold & never titled 2010 would be the best way to go if you're dollar conscious.

Save the $20K, your warranty does not start until you drive out the dealership's door. Saving yourself $20 large *and* being totally covered, what's not to like about that?

All "supercars" depreciate, even Ferraris. Heck all regular cars depreciate, some more than others and the most expensive usually the most. The A#1 reason why one doesn't buy an automobile as an investment.

This is no brainer save the $20,000 and get the 2010 (as you seem inclined to do from the tone of your post)!
A brand new 2010 Z06 would be hard to beat under the Christmas tree!
If you want to save another $10,000 get yourself a nice low mileage 2009 Z (if you really want to avoid taking the DEPRECIATION hit of a new car, as the 09s are essentially the same car as the 2010s).
Best of luck follow you dreams and get one of these bad boys you won't be sorry!

Are you financing? 0%/72 months would get me into a 2010 over a 2011 provided the price is right in lew of the 0% More options to add on a 2011 though up to $98K.

Wait let me get this straight....your cousin picked up a GRAND SPORT over a Z06?!?!?!?!?! I would take a used 06 Z06 over a 2011 GrandSport, Z51, etc!!

The 2011 Z06 is 1 year newer.
It has a better exhaust.
It has better (supposedly, although there is conflict here) tires.
It has better syncro's in the transmission.
It can be ordered how you want it vs. finding one.
The 2010 Z06 is cheaper.
Weigh this against your finances and pick what's right.

They did change transmissions in 2008 to a stronger one, but the new one has the syncro problems with the nibbles/grinds. For 2011 all C6's with manuals got a transmission improvement in the way of carbon fiber syncros, that are supposed to get rid of the nibbles/grinds when cold.

I went with the 2010 Z06 in November due to cost and 0% financing. It was also the only new Vette I could find in the country which had a manual transmission and the crystal red metallic color. I love my car and have no regrets.

Really? Take a look here at 2008 Turbos listed on "Cars.com"...

Even the 2 year examples you gave in your link...don't most 911 turbo S's go for $160k and the GT2 in the $240k+ ballpark!!
So now they're going for $82k-95k after 2 years?!?!?!? Almost 50% value loss?? What supercar loses it's value faster than that???

Well come on, I was exaggerating a bit by the 2 years...but start looking at 06-07's and there's plenty of good options at around $60k-$70k.

2010 all the way, you already got the upgrade oil system and newer tranny and nicer interior (compared to previous years). For the $20k you save you can buy an exhuast you actually like (all stock exhausts sucks), and a new set of aftermarket tires that are better than even the new ones offered on the 2011's, and have money to spare for the intake, headers, and other essential non-warranty voiding options any proper Z06 owner needs to have!!! :-)
Heck for that money you could get the ZR1 splitter and side rails, and a set of aftermarket rims as well and have a MUCH nicer lookin car.
Oh, btw, if you are new to Z06's, you will get at least 1/2 of these mods in the next 1-3 years. There is absolutely no fighting it. Even the most hardcore stockers can't hold back after a few years of ownership, so just assimilate and become a member of the borg.
