Note: E85 will make your cammed Z sound slightly different vs. E10.

Thanks,
Carlos

Thanks for the revised Black Widow cam Carlos...

My LSX 427 is coming along nicely after my abrupt change from Turbo to N/A (not my choice). Still looking for an Ls2/Ls7 valley cover though...

Question: Is the extra jump from 12.0 compression to say 12.5 worth it. Plus side, 1-1 1/2% more power (maybe). Negative side, not able to run much timing on 92 octane if that's the only fuel available. I have followed most of your tuning ideas for E85 on your Vettes. And I'm still not convinced to go 12.5 over 12 would be a real big jump. What do you think? Thanks for all the prior help..And my Corvette abuse phone calls...

94 Camaro 460rwhp (locked converter) 401 LT1. 11.34 second pass out at Pinks. 3800LB race weight (full weight plus 5 point roll bar)..

Now going LSX block 427, PI (now MAST) 6 bolt LS7 heads, 90 LB FIC injectors for E85, Vette AIR Black Widow cam, Ported 102 Fast, NW102, American Racing headers with LS7 flanges. 4L80E with Pro tongue converter. Hope to pick up 1 1/2 seconds...need another 150 hp (locked hp).

Hello Jim,

Good to hear from you. Considering your fuel availability, I would not make the jump from 12 to 12.5 or higher.

Thanks,
Carlos

We actually have found two E85 stations within 30 min drive. I'm worried that sense most here in this state don't use E85 that they'll shut down and then I'll be stuck with to much compression for 92 octane. My DCR calculates out to 8.5 with a SCR of 12.0 with your cam. Thats getting real close on 92 octane (with the VE these heads will produce). I will have a .034 quench though, so that will help stave off detonation. I'm just wondering if there is that much power difference between 12. to 12.5 on E85? I'm assuming it works just like race fuel...1-1 1/2 percent for .5 compression jump...

On another note. Our 18 degree (well 17 degree or so now) headed old tech, with 270ish duration/.750 lift mechical roller will now be runing E85 with it's 14.3 to 1 compression. Damn these sheet metal intakes sure are pretty. Hoping to get atleast 600 rwhp through unlocked turbo 400 on this 9000 rpm monster (actually thinking 700, but you never know). Can't forget the 400 shot of juice. Looking for low 8's with this old 95 Camaro..

Jim

Why not take all the TQ dyno graphs of the different cams, overlay them, and show the resulting choice space. Do this for HP graphs as well.

they are at all the Kroger gas stations. there's a couple iphone apps that'll help you find them too. But you're right, there not as common in DFW as i'd thought they'd be.
